Sign Up for an Eco-Visit and Make Your Home More Efficient
Does opening your utilities bill fill you with dread? Do you want to be more environmentally conscious? Do you want free stuff? If you answered "Yes!" to any of those questions, our Eco-Visits program (formerly SCORE) is for you!
When you
schedule an Eco-Visit, student technicians will visit your home and assess your home for energy and resource efficiency and give you great tips and tools to bring your house into the future. Get things LED lightbulbs, weatherstripping for your doors, insulation for your pipes, and low-flow shower heads all for free!
BONUS: if at least half of your roommates are present during the visit, we'll buy you a Cosmo's pizza.

2017 Campus Sustainability Awards
Call for Nominations; Deadline February 24, 2017
Nominate outstanding individuals and departments who demonstrate a sincere comm
itment to transforming the CU-Boulder campus into a living laboratory for sustainability through innovation that directly reduces the university's ecological footprint, enhances social cohesion and equity in the campus community and, or integrates sustainability into the culture of Boulder and our local communities.
Since 1997, the awards have served to make sustainability part of CU-Boulder's ongoing education, research, planning, operational and outreach programs, and to share information about initiatives and activities related to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
The nomination deadline is Friday, February 24. The Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 20th, 12:00-1:30 PM in conjunction with the 24th annual Campus Sustainability Summit, UMC Ballroom.

Green Labs Nominations

The CU Green Labs Program would like to recognize CU Boulder lab members (students, staff, and faculty), individual labs, lab departmental staff, and departments for their remarkable actions and commitments to reduce the impact of laboratory research on the environment. 2017 will be the third year of these annual awards which are presented at the Campus Sustainability Award Ceremony each April.

Sustainability Skills Workshops
These applied learning workshops are focused on skill-building along with applied information to improve your understanding in the practice of sustainability. Most workshops are aimed at newcomers and beginners with little to no experience. More advanced offerings will be indicated. Students may participate in any number of these events, from one to as many as you have time for. There are currently two workshops planned for Spring 2017 Semester.
There are no prerequisites to participate and transportation, if needed, is provided.
- Carbon Emissions Inventory - Friday, March 3, from 3 - 7 PM. Materials fee is $25. Enrollment is limited.
This Workshop focuses on the first part of Greenhouse Gas Accounting, known as a Carbon Emissions Inventory, and includes an introduction to the international standard for Greenhouse Gas Accounting - The Greenhouse Gas Protocol - and its principles and requirements.

Permaculture 101
In this evening lecture from Kelly Simmons, you will learn about the ecological design system known as Permaculture Design and details about the upcoming Maymester course.
Permaculture aims to create stable, productive systems that provide for human needs, harmoniously integrating the land with its inhabitants. The ecological processes of plants, animals, their nutrient cycles, climatic factors and weather cycles are all part of the picture. Elements in a system are viewed in relationship to other elements, where the outputs of one element become the inputs of another.
Within a Permaculture system, work is minimized, wastes become resources, productivity and yields increase, and environments are restored.

Career Services and the Environmental Center's Applied Learning Program have invited sustainability professionals and alumni to campus to speak about their careers and give insight into this fast-growing industry. This non-formal, free Buff Talk will provide you with advice on steps to help with your professional development.

Inuit Knowledge and Climate Change
Join the Eco Social Justice Team in partnership with Oyate for a film screening of the first Inuit language documentary: Inuit Knowledge and Climate Change. It illuminates amazing ways in which Inuit people have been living in the Arctic, and interesting observations Inuit people are making with some of the discrepencies between what they see and what science is "seeing."
Stick around after the film for an engaging discussion about traditional ecological knowledge with special guest Heidi McCann from ELOKA of the National Snow & Ice Center.
Snacks will be provided!

Volunteers for Ralphies' Green Stampede act as Zero Waste Goalies at CU sporting events to help spectators choose the right bin for their waste.

Energy Green Teams
The CU Energy Green Teams are looking for volunteers to join our team in promoting energy and water sustainability amongst your student renter community.
We have volunteer slots available continuously throughout the semester starting the week of 2/19:
Tuesday: 2:00-4:15 PM
Tuesday: 3:30-5:30 PM
Thursday: 2:00-4:15 PM
This is a great opportunity to get volunteer hours, become familiar with the work currently going on at the E-Center and to get outside and help your fellow students become more energy and water efficient.
Stop in at the E-Center (UMC 355) and talk to someone about signing up to Volunteer with the Green Teams Today! There is a binder at the front desk where you can choose your time slot and lock in your volunteer days!
