Dear Saint Rose Families,

Well, this morning's delay caught me off guard.  It looks like winter decided to arrive today and will be gone tomorrowTomorrow the students can purchase hot chocolate during recess. We had to postpone this from last week since it was too cold. The same with today.  We hope that tomorrow will be just right!

I am in the heart of teachers observations.  Today I was reminded of the states of matter while in Ms. Lewandowski's third grade science class.  There was no doubt that every student in the class understood the concept as they acted out the different states, used marshmallows and cereal to create models, and in the end created mind maps of the different state in their science journals. It was an interactive and engaging class that certainly drove the "I Can" statement home. Later in the day I observed Mrs. Henry and learned how much fun it can be to utilize all of the proper elements of a short story.  Students used story cubes that they created to come up with interesting story elements that they collaboratively wove into a short story. I am looking forward to reading their final versions.

This week, members of our 8th grade were in the media again as they were trained as student facilitators in the Dialogue to Change Toledo program. This has been a natural progression from their 8th grade project in their religion class.  Saint Rose and Queen of Apostles teamed up last year for our Lenten Service Project.  We plan to do the same this year. It is nice to see the students working together on something so meaningful to our communities.  We should all be very proud of Mrs. Brahier and the work of her students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bryon Borgelt
Principal

Dear Families,
Heartbeat is an organization devoted to providing support and care for women and men in crisis pregnancies.

Saint Rose Church will once again support the charitable works of Heartbeat with a baby bottle collection.  On the weekend of February 17-18 volunteers are needed to distribute empty baby bottles to parishioners at the end of Masses.  On the weekend of March 4-5 volunteers are needed to collect bottles with money before Masses.

This is a great opportunity for children, adults, and families to serve the Church and Community together.  Please click here to sign up to help.  You will receive an email reminder 3 days prior to your date.

Thank you!
