Where will you park for the Scotties?
Are you going to the Scotties? Special event parking will be $5 for evening and weekend draws at the following locations:
- Ontario Street Parking Garage
- Garden Park/Carlisle Street Parking Garage
- Head Street Lot
- Race Street Lot
- Garden Park Lot
Payment is by cash only and is paid on entrance to the garage/parking lots. Special event parking will be $10 for evening and weekend draws at the IceDogs Way Parking Lot (across from the Meridian Centre). Payment is by cash only and is paid on entrance to the parking lot. Parking is available during daytime draws at the City's metered spots and pay-and-display lots throughout the downtown as well as the parking garages. Normal parking fees ($1.50 per hour) are in effect. Permit holders Public parking is available for the Scotties and other long-term visits to the downtown at our parking garages. While permit holders can usually find parking easily in our parking garages, the expected increase in demand for parking due to the Scotties may limit the number of spaces available throughout the day. Downtown roads may also be busier preceding the start of daily draws (9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.), so plan to arrive earlier than usual.

Before we move into the City budget later this month, Council will be discussing inter-municipal transit
at a special council meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers.
Connecting Niagara's transit systems is an important action item in our strategic plan. This will be an important meeting and significant step forward in creating an integrated, user-focused transit system for our city and region. Everyone is welcome to participate in this important conversation at the meeting, or using the online form at www.stcatharines.ca/IMT. Comments can be submitted until 4:30 pm on Monday, Feb. 20.

First phase of Oakdale Ave. townhouse build moving ahead
A plan to build 93 stacked townhouses on a piece of land on Oakdale Avenue is a great example of what the City's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is intended for.
City Council signed off on an 80 per cent tax increment grant over 10 years through the CIP program for the first phase of a proposed development at 112 Oakdale Ave. The new townhouses will be geared to the mid-low income rental market and will significantly increase the value of the property.
Council also approved a similar application by developers who intend to convert an old industrial property into a warehouse and commercial space and made an extension to a commencement date for a previously-approved brownfield incentive grant for the Heritage Point development at 40-44 Woodburn Ave.
