THE ANNUAL SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER will take place on
Tuesday, February 28th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..  Tickets are available in the Parish Hall for a $5 donation per hearty appetite ($20 max for families.) Members of St. Matthew's Youth Group are serving as kitchen and wait staff and proceeds will benefit the New Hope mission trip.

T.G.I.F. is meeting on Friday February 24th for breakfast at 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. All Men of the church and community are welcome to come and share a good breakfast and study the word of GOD. Breakfast is only $2, what a deal! Come and join us.

SIGN-UP FOR THE LENTEN SERIES, THE CRUCIFIED LIFE, will take place  in two ways.  First, there are  sign-up sheets on the table under the monitor in the Parish Hall, so if you are at church during the week you can sign up.  Second, sign-up and selling of books will be every Sunday in February after the 10:30 a.m. service in the Parish Hall. You may also contact Jean Ray at  [email protected] or 360-3575 to sign up or with questions.

PRIME TIMERS will meet at noon on Monday, February 20th, in the Parish Hall. We will complete the inspiring story of Jacob "Jake" DeShazer whose life journey took him from his home in the rural Midwest to unimaginable confinement as a WWII POW, from resentment and indifference to forgiveness and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the most unlikely. Bring a friend and bring your lunch. Dessert and beverage provided.

REASONABLE FAITH meets on the first and third Tuesdays of every month  at 7:30 p.m. for a lively and educational discussion on effective strategies, tactics and hard evidence to defend your faith with confidence.  The Reasonable Faith group has been taking the meetings on the "road" so to speak and are no longer meeting at St. Matthew's. The group is still very active and updates are shown at www.reasonablefaithrva.org. If you would like more information please contact Paul Creasy at [email protected].

ASH WEDNESDAY The first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at Ash Wednesday services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of our mortality, and may be imposed with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday is observed as a fast in the church year of the Episcopal Church. The Ash Wednesday service is one of the Proper Liturgies for Special Days in the BCP (p. 264). The Imposition of Ashes is included at the Ash Wednesday services here at St. Matthew's.  Consider attending one of the 3 services on March 1 st .
