SARAH PAULSON THANKS BC TEACHER AT SAG AWARDS
After winning a Screen Actors Guild Award last week for her portrayal of Marcia Clark in "The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," Sarah Paulson, who attended Berkeley Carroll, thanked her BC Middle School drama teacher Robert Stallworth.
UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS CONDUCT LAB WORK AT DNA CENTER
Science Research and Design students visited the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center West last week. They extracted and amplified mitochondrial DNA for sequencing and future analysis and had the chance to tour a clinical diagnostics laboratory where blood from hospitals, clinics and nursing homes is sent for analysis.
8TH GRADE LIVING WAX MUSEUM WOWS BC
This year’s Living Wax Museum featured Ellen DeGeneres, Barack Obama, Joan of Arc, Albert Einstein and 70 other influential figures. The museum is a BC tradition where 8th graders research and deliver written and oral presentations on a historical or present day figure; then they portray that person, talking about their life journey, achievements and beliefs to students, faculty and family members as part of a 2-hour pop-up museum. 3RD GRADE PERFORMS SCENES FROM ‘ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE’
Third graders performed sections of Christoph Willibald Gluck's "Orpheus and Eurydice," based on dancer Isadora Duncan's version of the piece, using ribbons and fabric for added effect. Photos.

BC CONCERT ATTRACTS MORE THAN 500
The Upper School Instrumental Concert played to a capacity audience at Sterling Place and attracted more than 500 views on Facebook Live.   The Upper School's Orchestra and Wind Ensemble performed along with students from the seventh and eighth grades.
BREAKFAST CLUB LOOKS AT POSSIBLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST FOR PRESIDENT 
World Affairs Breakfast Club discussed potential conflicts of interest for the Trump administration last week with Felice B. Rosan, associate general counsel for Columbia University, and Joel H. Steckel, professor of marketing at NYU's Stern School of Business. Read more.

This week's senior speaker was Karleen E.! She spoke about how she appreciates the opportunities she has received at BC and thanked faculty, staff and the Class of 2017 for making her time at the school memorable.

STEAM FAIR POSTER CONTEST GALLERY
On the eve of tomorrow’s sold out STEAM Fair, we’ve created a gallery with all 30 entries to the STEAM Fair poster contest held in Dr. Nell's Daniel's Middle School design elective.  The winning poster was designed by Amelia B. '22; honorable mentions went to Ellie M. '21 and Sarah K. '24, Congratulations to all students who entered—we saw some outstanding work!

2ND GRADE EXPLORES NEW 72ND ST. SUBWAY STATION
Second graders visited the 72nd St. stop on the new Second Avenue subway line last week. They explored the station's accessible features, such as elevators and emergency refuge points, and the mosaics of real-life New Yorkers. The students observed clean, wide-open spaces and even thought about what "props" they would have if they were featured in the mosaics.
ACCLAIMED ARTIST WORKS WITH UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS
Internationally-renowned artist Derek Buckner shared his work with ninth and 10th grade Drawing and Painting students last week. He also worked with each of them one-on-one to help them develop their spring painting series.  
Pre-K VISITS CONSTRUCTION KIDS
Ms. Mulvaney's PreK class visited Construction Kids last week, where students used their imaginations and real tools to work on a project adapted for small hands.
AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR TALK TO LOWER SCHOOLERS
Author Anna Kang and Illustrator Chris Weyant spoke with lower schoolers today about where they get their ideas, what they do and how to become an author or illustrator. They also read aloud from their new (not-yet-unreleased) book, "I Am (Not) Scared" and Chris drew a few illustrations based on random numbers picked by the students.
