Congratulations to Jason Sirera!
DAR 2nd Place Essay Winner
Wednesday, February 8th, was the George Washington Tea sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
 
Eight high school students were honored for being their school's nominee for the Good Citizen Award. An essay contest was involved. Jason Sirera came in second out of the eight students.   
 
A-Team
 
Congratulations to A-Team for placing 7th at the County Finals and to Frank Vecchio who made the All County team.  
2017 SFC Athletic Booster Scholarship
The SFC Booster Association is proud to offer, for the first time, a $1,500 scholarship for an SFC graduating senior athlete who has attended SFC and has been involved in SFC athletics for at least three years, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants need to submit a typed essay, 500 words minimum, on: HOW HAS BEING AN SFC ATHLETE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE?   
 
Please submit essays to the front office by Thursday, March 16th, 2:30pm. Please have your name on the cover sheet only.  Winner will be announced during the Senior Awards.
NHS Homework Help Sessions

Tuesdays and Thursdays:  2:30-3:30 in Room 23

Sessions are open for any student who is looking for a quiet place to work on homework after school.  National Honor Society members will be available to help answer questions students have on their assignments.       

NHS Membership
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA are invited to apply for membership in National Honor Society. Pick up an application from the front office and return to Mrs. Gaspary by March 6th. Late applications will not be accepted. New members will be initiated at the Honors Induction on March 15th.

Renaissance XXXIV - Glitterati

The event is March 11th, in the SFC Gym. 5:00pm Sponsors' VIP reception, 6:00pm general admission. 
 
What's New? Just to name a few:
  • We've covered the gamut with the entertainment this year: opera, jazz, and a DJ.
  • Champagne cocktail fountain.
  • A plated gourmet dinner of filet (6 oz) and chicken marsala, garlic mashed potatoes, and string beans.

Class Basket Themes:
  • Seniors: "For the Sophisticated Sportsman," hunting, fishing, coolers, tools, cocktail supplies, etc.
  • Juniors: "For the Glamorous Gal," spa and beauty products, gardening supplies, wine accessories, ladies lunch gift certificates, accessories, etc.
  • Sophomores: "Resort Rendezvous," beach towels, hats, suncare products, visors, sunglasses, totes, frozen drinks, beach items, etc.
  • Freshmen: "Debutantes and Dudes," games, ear buds, insulated bottles, gift cards: movies, gas, fast food, iTunes, Amazon, etc. 
If you'd prefer, we can do the shopping for you. Please send your item or money in by February 24th, or sooner, to the school office so that we can assemble the baskets and put them on our online event website.

Renaissance is our biggest annual fundraiser. Every family is expected to serve at least two volunteer hours.
 
Ways you can help:
  • Volunteer - Contact Connie Sidwell to let her know how you can help by texting to (863) 287-9426 or by email, connie@conniesidwell.com.
  • Auction items - Do you have a vacation condo you can donate for a week? Can you donate a service by gift certificate? Do you have jewelry you do not wear? Do you have any connections that you'd like us to contact? The possibilities are endless.
  • Attend the event - Guaranteed to have a great time! 
  • Wall of Wine - Donate a bottle of wine for our wall. Last year our wall raised over $1,000. Please have an adult bring this to the front office.
Collecting Used Prom Attire
Gently used formal dresses, suits, tuxes, shirts, ties, shoes, purses, and other accessories are being collected and donated to Project Prom. Donations can be dropped off at Mrs. Redman's room, Room 25, until March 15th.  This is a student community service project, please contact Ellie Massaro for more information at elliemassaro@aol.com.

Student Service Hours Opportunity
RCS Mardi Gras
Resurrection is looking for students interested in helping out at Mardi Gras on February 23rd-26th. If interested, please sign up at http://signup.com/go/hTTAw7.
 
As an added incentive...any Santa Fe student who signs up for a shift after 8:00pm on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night (Feb 24th, 25th, and 26th) will get double hours. We are in great need for pavilion assistants, truck runners, condiment refillers, dishwashers, and cleanup crew after 8pm each night.

Also, entertainment acts (band, dancers, etc.) are needed to perform at Mardi Gras. If you are interested, contact Brittany Montgomery at BrittE.Montgomery@gmail.com.

All eleventh grade students are encouraged to use the following ACT Resources to prepare for the February 28th, ACT test which will be held on the Santa Fe Catholic High School campus.

Yearbook News!
Hello, Parents!
It is time to purchase school yearbooks! They can easily be purchased online through Balfour at http://www.balfour.com/florida/lakeland/santa-fe-catholic-high-school/
The cost is $65 for a basic yearbook, but other add-ons, like personalization, are available for an extra fee.

Spring Break Europe Trip 2018
We are pleased to announce an 11 day trip to France and Switzerland for next year's spring break. The itinerary includes: Paris, Versailles, Chartres, the Loire Valley, St. Malo, Normandy (Mont-St-Michel, D-Day beaches and museum), Rouen, Seine River cruise, Bern, Lucerne, and Mt. Pilatus. The dates are March 22-April 1, 2018. Included in the price: roundtrip airfare, hotels, breakfast and dinner, services of a tour director, site visits, tips for the tour director and driver.
 
The price until March 1st is $3340. This price includes a $150 discount with voucher code "2018earlybird" which is good until February 28th. A $50 deposit will lock in this price. Various payment plans are available.

Mandatory Forms Needed to Participate in Sports
All students participating in sports MUST have a sports physical dated after June 1, 2016. Print the following highlighted links ( EL2 and EL3) and make sure you take the EL2 with you and have it signed by the doctor. Both completed forms must be turned in to the front office prior to participating in practice.
 
Athletic Passes for the 2016-2017 School Year
Adult: $75 per pass, Student: $25 per pass
Good for all SFC home games except playoff games.
