"As a mother, we feel so desperate and helpless when our kids are sick. I'm happy for all of the people who are always here. You are here telling us, 'You are not alone, we are here to help you.'"

#GIVINGTUESDAY Supports Guatemalan Kidney Donors with Primary Care Services
In November, BOL asked for your support of our first # GIVINGTUESDAY, Be a Donor for a Donor   fundraising campaign supporting the Guatemala Kidney Donor medical mission in December.

Over $21,000 was raised to continue primary care services for lifesaving heroes -- kidney donors -- who pour their limited resources into the health of their sick children while often neglecting their own health.

BOL thanks every DaVita teammate and donor who made this mission possible!

Over 2,000 People Screened for CKD in Nepal
BOL worked with four DaVita India teammate volunteers in September to screen 2,181 individuals for chronic kidney disease (CKD) in rural areas outside of Pokhara, Nepal.

"My job as a DaVita teammate does not end at fulfilling my functional responsiblities," said DaVita India teammate volunteer, Rika Banerji. "I have the opportunity and responsbility to pay it forward across all international and disadvantaged communities who need healthcare the most."

Using testing indicators, including blood pressure, protein, glucose, and health surveys, 518 people were found to be at risk for CKD.

One screening participant shared, "This screening camp has proven to be a godsend for us...the availability of resources in the countryside is limited, but your visit to our village has been timely and beneficial."
Corporate Donors Provide Over $175,000 in Equipment and Supplies in 2016
We are so proud to partner with amazing companies who Care for Our World through monetary and in-kind donations!

This year, over $175,000 of equipment and medical supplies was donated to BOL to support domestic screening events, international medical missions and BOL's electronic medical records program initiative which launched this year in Nicaragua.

Thanks to donations such as dialysis machines and chairs, dialyzers, water systems, primary care and screening supplies, and iPads, BOL's expenses were lowered so that your dollars went further to improve and sustain our programs. Click here to see all our amazing corporate sponsors!

Medical Mission Volunteers Needed in 2017
You can support BOL in 2017 as a volunteer! We need over 300 clinical and non-clinical volunteers to help provide healthcare services for both domestic and international
medical missions. To view upcoming missions, check out the BOL Calendar. We are scheduling 2017 missions now and will continue to update our calendar!

Please note that our team will review submitted applications and select/contact those candidates who best meet mission needs to proceed with interviews. A submitted application does not guarantee a volunteer position for a mission.  Please review our  Volunteer website page prior to submitting your application as this provides a full overview of FAQs in relation to volunteering with BOL, including information on taking PTO, travel expenses and more.  If you have additional questions, please contact Katie Chandler .  We look forward to receiving your application!
