Trace Informal Welcome to Monday Briefing, a weekly digest from ACPE Executive Director Trace Haythorn

Each week, you will receive related articles, updates on ACPE transitions, and helpful links to keep you connected, better informed, and well-resourced for the week ahead.
In case you missed it:
Every once in a while, there are calendar coincidences that are too beautiful to ignore. Last Monday was both Rosh Hashanah and Muharram. A happy and blessed new year to our Jewish and Muslim colleagues! And G'mar Hatima Tova to our Jewish colleagues - may you have an easy fast.
FLSA Updates:
If you haven't seen the latest legal memo, please click here. It is a conservative opinion meant to assist you and your department as you work to address the changes. Also, we're watching legislative activity in Washington DC related to this. The US Senate is considering a bill that will phase the new rules in over five years, while the US House is looking at a 3-year roll out. We will keep monitoring this and keep you posted.
As you read this:
I will be meeting with our colleagues in the North Central region, my fifth of eight regional visits (note: We offer our prayers for everyone suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew. The Southeast region actually cut their meeting short to assure safe travel for members, canceling their annual banquet, their business meeting, and our discussion of the redesign proposal, though Jap Keith invited those who remained to talk through the proposal).
Reminder:
If you want to make comments about the bylaws or the proposed model, please send those to ACPERedesign@acpe.edu or visit MyACPE on the website and make your comments on the ACPExchange discussion page.
Send Us Your Pictures:
2017 is ACPE' s 50 th Anniversary! The anniversary planning committee is designing multiple celebrations for our annual conference in Minneapolis in May.

The committee requests that you send us pictures from local, regional and national gatherings. Clearly mark where, when and who is the picture. You can email them to acpe@acpe.edu or mail them to ACPE, One West Court Square, Suite 325, Decatur, GA 30030. Hard copies will not be returned.

A Poem for Reflection:
A little different take this week - the poem comes with a photo. May it add to your reflection!

Wyoming

listen to the light
in the tent of early dawn
under the cover of quiet sunrise
the Wunderkammer of deepest dreams
reflects the shadows of living memories
in the museums of our minds
flying West in summer
listen to the light - listen to the light
