Washington, D.C. - The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding will host its biennial Congressional reception welcoming the new ethnic members of Congress on Tuesday, January 24
th, 5:00PM in the Mansfield Room S-207 in the U.S. Capitol Building.
FFEU President Rabbi Marc Schneier said "this tribute will celebrate the continued growth of diversity and ethnic representation in the United States Congress. The Foundation recognizes the dramatic change in ethnic demographics that has profoundly altered the face of Congress over the past 25 years.'"
Since 1989, the Foundation has strengthened race relations with and between the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Conference, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and the Jewish Congressional Delegation on the Hill, as well as between these communities throughout the nation.
The 25 new ethnic members of the 115
th Congress are:
Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Senator Tammy Duckworth, Senator Kamala Harris, Congresswoman Nanette Barragan, Congressman Anthony Brown, Congressman Lou Correa, Congressman Salud Carbajal, Congresswoman Val Demings, Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Congressman Dwight Evans, Congressman Vincente Gonzalez, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Congressman Ruben Kihuen, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Congressman Ro Khanna, Congressman David Kustoff, Congressman Al Lawson, Congressman Donald McEachin, Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, Congressman Jamie Raskin, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen, Congressman Brad Schneider, Congressman Darren Soto.
Veteran Congressional members representing the African American, Hispanic, Jewish and Asian-Pacific delegations will also participate in the reception.
