January is as good a time as any to go over your past year's business indicators and determine what's working and what's not in your business and the industry. It's also a good time to get out there and network with other business owners to find out what's working for them, learn more about the current trends and to pass around a few business cards.
Strategic planning is critical to business success and involves vision, mission and outside-of-the-box thinking. It's where you describe where you want your company to go, not necessarily how you're going to get there. However, like all other "travel plans," without knowing where you want to go, creating details on how to arrive are meaningless. Take the time to define the "where" that your company is heading.
We understand your business and your community. As a non profit organization that has been around for over 30 years, Community Futures - like most businesses - have grown, shrunk, bought and sold buildings, relocated and more. We have had to hone in on our niche market and define our "where" each year.
