CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK, JANUARY 29-FEBRUARY 4
Next week we, along with all other Catholic Schools, celebrate "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service." We are united as we focus on academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment. At SCCS, our goal is to encourage spiritual growth and the God-given talents of each of our students to help them become lifelong learners. Our hope is that they develop a sense of responsibility to God and for themselves, as well as their communities and the world. Thank you for your continued support of SCCS and Catholic education.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK ACTIVITIES
There are many activities scheduled for Catholic Schools Week, January 29-February 4. The following list is to help parents prepare for the week:
MONDAY, JANUARY 30: "Faith, Hope, and Love" letters painted and set up in the island between St. Mary's Church and SCCS, Penny Wars (change collection) begins.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 31: Grades 6-12 may wear a sweatshirt, baseball hat, or scarf in their house color over school uniform, House Saint trading cards for all students.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1: To show support for our Nation, students in all grades may wear blue jeans and a red or white shirt.
 
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2: After all-school Mass, students may wear crazy socks. Winner of Penny Wars is announced.
 
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3: Spirit day, all students are allowed to wear jeans and a Panther shirt. Winner of the Penny Wars will receive a movie and popcorn party at the end of the day.

ENROLLMENT KICK OFF
Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year begins next week. You will receive a letter and a re-enrollment postcard in the mail to return to Mrs. Snow in Admissions. Don't forget about our New Family Grant...refer a family that enrolls and attends SCCS in kindergarten through grade 12, and you will receive a $500 tuition credit! BOY SCOUT CHICKEN DINNER FEBRUARY 24
Join us before the SMCC vs. Old Fort basketball game and support the Boy Scouts, St. Mary's Troop 7 Chicken Dinner Fundraiser, Friday, February 24 from 4:30pm-7:30pm in the cafeteria. Meals are provided by Bar-B-Que Traveler and include: chicken, bread, baked potato, barbecue beans, and beverage. Tickets are $10 and sold by presale ONLY. At 7:00pm, any unclaimed meals will be sold. Please contact any Boy Scout or Mrs. Kathy Morrow at 419-202-9562 for tickets.

SAFE HARBOUR FOOD/HOUSEHOLD ITEM COLLECTION
Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter will be speaking to Mrs. Sakel's Health class the week of February 6. During the week of January 30-February 3, Mrs. Sakel would like to conduct a canned food and household item collection for the shelter. Please send any donations to room 3082, Mrs. Sakel's classroom. Thank you for your help!

MAINTENANCE HELP NEEDED
Part- time custodial help is needed after school hours in the SCCS middle school. Please contact Mr. John McGuire at [email protected] if interested.

NOSF GRADES K-8 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is an income based scholarship for students entering grades K-8 for the 2017-2018 school year. The scholarships are 100% need-based, because NOSF believes that income should not be a barrier to a quality education. Each scholarship is based on individual family size and income, with a maximum scholarship of $1,500 per child. Please fill out the 2017-2018 pre-application here. This short application enters you in a lottery to receive the scholarship. The deadline to fill out the pre-application is Friday, April 28, 2017. PRESCHOOL - GRADE 8 YEARBOOK ORDER FORMS
Order forms for the preschool through grade 8 Yearbooks are available at the Main Entrance or in the Main Office for grades 6-8. Preschool-grade 5 order forms were sent home with students. Yearbooks are $25 and the deadline to order is March 3, 2017.
 
DUELING PIANOS

On Saturday, February 4, the Panther Moms will be hosting a Dueling Piano Night in the Kinzel Center from 7:00pm-10:00pm. It's a high energy form of entertainment where two professional piano players sing and entertain with humor, engaging audience members with sing a longs! Bring family, friends, neighbors...anyone who would like to beat the winter blahs and enjoy a fun evening out. Cash bar with beer and wine will be available. Reservations are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and may be purchased at the main entrance, by sending in money with your student, or online by clicking here. If you send money with your child, please put Dueling Pianos on the envelope. Hope to see you there!

FEBRUARY 4 PARENTS NIGHT OUT
Saturday, February 4, the SMCC Cheerleaders are hosting a Parents Night Out, from 5:00pm-10:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. There is a $20 donation per family, and all children ages 3-12 are welcome. Students will partake in various activities throughout the evening, such as games, crafts, stories, dancing, and more! At 8pm we will quiet down with a group prayer and a big screen movie featuring "The Secret Life of Pets." Feel free to bring a water bottle with your child's name on it, and a sleeping bag/pillow/blanket for the movie.

FATHER & DAUGHTER DANCE

The SMCC Cheerleaders will be hosting a Preschool-8 Father & Daughter dance on Sunday, January 29, from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Desserts and light refreshments will be provided. Tickets are $10 a couple and $3 for additional daughters.  Daughters who do not attend SCCS are welcome to join.  Dress code is Sunday best.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
 

Two 8th-12th grade SCCS/SMCC students that submit their Foundation scholarship applications by Friday, February 10th will be randomly selected to participate in the Foundation Scholarship Shootout taking place at halftime of the boys junior varsity game on Friday, February 24th against Old Fort. The lucky winner of the shootout will re ceive $200 and our 2nd place finisher will receive a $100.
 
The SCCS Education Foundation is pleased to announce over $100,000 available for SMCC scholarships this year. Scholarship applications are available online at www.sanduskycc.org and in the Panther Performance Center. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Feb.10th.

SADIE HAWKINS DANCE
The freshman class is hosting a Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, February 10, from 8:00pm-11:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. The theme is "Black and Red Formal" and is open to students in grades 9-12. Tickets will be sold at lunch for $10, or $15 at the door.

STEUBENVILLE YOUTH CONFERENCE
Sandusky Life Teen is headed to Steubenville Mid- America in July. It is a weekend-long conference with over 3000 other Christian youth from across the United States. Please click here for more information.

EARN HOUSE POINTS FOR ATTENDING PANTHER SPORTING EVENTS

This winter, House points will be awarded for students who attend certain winter sporting events. Earn points at the following games/meets :

Boys Basketball: February 24
Girls Basketball: January 21, February 16
Wrestling: January 27 and 28
