Press Release - Embassy Celebrates Republic Day 2017

The 68th Republic Day 2017 was celebrated in Washington DC today on January 26, 2017 at Embassy premises. Ambassador Navtej Sarna paid floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Embassy. Thereafter, Ambassador unfurled the National Flag. The National Anthem was sung. Ambassador addressed the guests and read out the Address of the Hon'ble President made on the eve of the Republic Day of India 2017. This was followed by singing of patriotic songs by a young Indian American.  Over 200 members of the Indian American community attended the celebrations.  Documentaries titled "A Day in the Life of India" and "INDIAN ARMY: An Instrument of National Power" were screened on the occasion. Printed copies of Hon'ble President's Address both in Hindi and English were distributed to the guests.
