What We Have Been Learning
Ask Your Child About

Talking with your child is the best way to support classroom learning. The following questions can help you get started.

  • What's the mental math strategy to divide 45,000 by 100?
  • How should I divide 41,400 by 300?
  • If I melt a bit of ice in a sealed bag, will the weight change after if melts? Why?
  • If I dissolve a spoonful of salt in a cup of water, will the weight change? Why?

When your child reads, you can ask or say:

  • Write down any words that may be tricky or they don't understand.
  • What are some character traits of the main character? How do you know this?
  • How has your character changed?
  • What is the problem the character is facing?
  • Do you have any predictions?
  • Summarize what you've read so far.

Your child should be reading for 30 minutes each day!
