THE CONNECTICUT OFFICE OF THE ARTS
    AWARDS OVER $1.5 MILLION IN GRANTS STATEWIDE


    The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) is pleased to announce the recipients of its FY2017 grants.

    In total, COA awarded 129 grants totaling $1,532,598.

          The Arts & Community Impact (ACI) program funds projects that create or sustain a meaningful relationship with non-arts stakeholders to effectively connect the intrinsic value of the arts to identifiable community needs, interests or opportunities.  

          COA awarded twelve (12) ACI grants totaling $154,699.
                The Public Art Community (PAC) program provides funding for public art projects that engage in quality partnerships and consider community need(s) and opportunity(ies). The program supports both new or ongoing projects, temporary or permanent projects, and projects of a variety of disciplines including visual, performance, literary-based, as long as they include a significant public art component.

                COA awarded nine (9) PAC grants totaling $153,000. 
                      The Arts Learning program provides funding for the planning and implementation of new or expanded arts in education-based projects that engage partners to advance teaching and learning for birth to grade 12 in a defined community setting. 

                      COA awarded twelve (12) Arts Learning grants totaling $177,280. 
                            The Supporting Arts in Place (SAP)  program awards grants to eligible arts organizations and municipal arts offices to strengthen the state's nonprofit arts industry. Supporting Arts in Place grants provide general operating support and funding levels are derived from organizational data and are calculated by mathematical formula.

                            COA awarded eighty (80) SAP grants totaling $515,000. 
                                  The Office of the Arts partners with Regional Service Organizations that serve as local field offices to constituents and citizens. This statewide network of service agencies plays a key role that is mutually beneficial to the state’s citizens and creative economy, the regional arts and cultural infrastructure, and COA’s goals, programs, and services. These service organizations support Connecticut’s economy and provide arts and cultural leadership at a regional level.

                                        COA awarded a grant in the amount of $11,500 to the Connecticut Historical Society to support the Cultural Heritage Arts Program (CHAP).

                                        The Cultural Heritage Program (CHAP) is a program of the Connecticut Historical Society and was originally established by the Institute for Community Research in 1991.

                                        CHAP is COA's long standing partner which helps us to reach and engage with the state's growing ethnically diverse populations.

                                        CHAP encourages and promotes traditional artists and their communities through research and program development. Traditions and the cultural histories of these communities are preserved and carried forward to new audiences.  
                                              FUNDING OPPORTUNITY:

                                              For applicants who did not receive a grant, please consider applying for a Regional Initiative Grant.

                                              The Regional Initiative Grant (REGI) program awards grants ranging from $1,000 to $4,000.

                                              The REGI program is a good fit for applicants primarily interested in small projects that support access to the creative process and/or creative experience, especially those projects that experiment with new ways to apply the arts within community. 
                                                  The REGI program is administered by the state's nine (9) Regional Service Organizations    

                                                  COA has allocated $315,000 to the REGI program, with each Regional Service Organization receiving $35,000 to re-grant in their region.
