Hello Mosaic Members & Jewish Outdoor Enthusiasts,

We are pleased to introduce you to the incoming Board of Directors of Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America. Some will be familiar names and faces, while others are new to the board. We look forward to working together and planning great events for our members in the coming year. We also plan to continue growing our organization, which is entering its 25th year. We all share a love of nature and the outdoors, and are committed to making this the best year ever! We will send out regular newsletters, to keep you informed of both local and international events, as well as other newsworthy items. We hope to see you soon!

Marlisse Marcus, President

I have been a member of Mosaic of Greater Los Angeles for many years, attending occasional hikes and camping trips. Then, in October 2008 I attended a National Mosaic Leadership Retreat in Colorado and a whole new world opened up for me. I have been serving on the National Board since 2009 and I have been the Co-Chair of the International Event in 2009 and 2010. This year, I am honored to be the President of this wonderful organization. I have great dreams and hopes for Mosaic, as we enter our 25th year of existence. I hope that by serving on the National Board I'll be able to bring some of these things to fruition, so that future generations of Jewish Outdoor enthusiasts could experience and enjoy the same things I have been fortunate enough to experience.

Mindy Sue Tumarkin, Vice President

I first heard of MOSAIC in 2001, a few months after having moved to NE  Ohio from the Chicago area.  It sounded like nirvana.....a Jewish group which liked to do the same things I liked to do!!!!!  (I grew up hearing that "Jews don't camp")  I joined as soon as I could and have been active since.  Locally, I've been club President, Vice President/Activities Director, and am currently Secretary.  I'm starting my 4th year on the International Board, having served as secretary for 3 years.  In my non-MOSAIC life, I work in IT for a major manufacturing company and look after my elderly mother and my furry family (feline, Bo and canines, Sterling and Silver).  My favorite activities are shopping, ice skating, shopping, hiking, shopping, snow shoeing, shopping, traveling.....did I mention shopping?

Hillary Brown, Treasurer

Hillary Brown lives in Chicago and first became interested in the outdoors thanks to growing up near a forest preserve and the Chicago Botanic Gardens.  She has been attending Labor Day events sine 2003 and joined the Board as a member-at-large in 2012.  Along with participating in Mosaic both locally and nationally, she works as a paralegal and performs and works behind the scenes with the Savoyaires, a community theater group that specializes in Gilbert & Sullivan.

Norine Goodman, Secretary

I have been a member of Mosaic of Ontario based in Toronto, Ontario since 2013 and on the local club Board since September 2014.  I enjoy many outdoor activities, even the more challenging ones that take place in Canadian winter weather.  I have met many wonderful and diverse people in this organization and have made some fantastic friends.  I hope to aid in keeping this great organization going, so that I and many others can continue to enjoy the various outings that they support.

Miriam Gross, Member at Large

I've been involved with Mosaic for many years - from participating in local  chapter events, to attending the annual event that brings folks together from all Mosaic chapters. Now I'm pleased to be serving on the Board to give back to the organization that has provided such great new friends, fun outdoor experiences and lots of learning about the outdoors with a Jewish twist. I've always been touched and impressed by the dedication of so many MOSAIC volunteers who work so hard to share their love out the outdoors with others. My "regular" job is rather sedentary, so I welcome the opportunity to participate in the wide variety of events and experiences that Mosaic offers. I'm particularly partial to being on the water and in the woods.

Robyn Israel, Member at Large

Robyn Israel is a native of Montreal. She previously lived in Palo Alto,  California, where she worked as an arts and entertainment journalist. She is now a Certified Canadian Counsellor in private practice in London, Ontario. Robyn is also a playwright and actress, with several plays to her credit, including an award-winning one-woman show, Jewish Girls Don't Kayak, which she toured in Canada (and one performance off-off-off Broadway in New York). Contrary to the play's title, Robyn does kayak, and enjoys many outdoor activities, including tennis, cycling, hiking and swimming. It was this love of nature and the outdoors that inspired her to attend her first Mosaic event this summer. She looks forward to bringing her writing, creativity and enthusiasm to the Mosaic board!

Alan Weschler, Member at Large

I have been on the National Board since fall, 2010. I have been involved  with Mosaic for ten years, and have attended five Labor Day weekends. I live in New York State's Capital Region, and am active in the outdoors year-round. I also enjoy photography and travel, and have showed a number of slide shows of my travels at the International Event. As a media professional with experience in newspapers and public relations, I hope to use those media skills to further Mosaic's prominence as the largest Jewish outdoor group in North America.

Arthur Goldstein, Member at Large

Raised in Minnesota, Arthur resides in New Jersey outside of New York City. He has trekked to Mt. Everest, dived the Great Barrier Reef, and hiked Mitzpe Ramon. His first Mosaic experience was the Maine event in 2001. Arthur is former Membership Director of the Greater New York chapter. A software developer, he set up the event data feed from Meetup.com to www.mosaic-gny.org . Arthur is involved with Toastmasters, enjoys playing sports (volleyball), and likes dance lessons (NY hustle).

Rick Dronsky, Member at Large

Rick Dronsky is the founder of Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America, as well as Mosaic Outdoor Club of South Florida. He has been organizing and leading trips and events for twenty one years for both organizations. Rick first heard of Mosaic in 1993, when he was invited to attend a Labor Day Mosaic National Event in Georgia.

Rick was the Executive Director and Executive Vice President of Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America, and served in that position since its inception in April, 1997 through April, 2002. After retiring at an early age, Rick spends most of his time on philanthropy, primarily on behalf of Mosaic.

Rick is a native of South Florida, an Eagle Scout, and a longtime nature enthusiast.  He is married to Laura Glassman Dronsky and they have two children, Josh and Amanda.

Terry Auspitz, Member at Large/Immediate Past President

I first joined Mosaic in 2006, when I was invited on a camping trip by a  good friend I've known since early childhood (we went to day camp together, actually). I first joined the Mosaic board in 2007, and I continue to be impressed by what this organization is able to pull off with our dedicated volunteers. I currently live in Millersville, PA, where I work in the IT department of a regional bank holding company. I am a member of Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
