A Huge Thank You to All of Our Awesome Volunteers!
|
|
As 2017 gets started up, we want to take the time to reflect on all of the awesome volunteers that have helped make the start of our school year here at Puesta del Sol so successful.
We have parents, relatives and caregivers of Puesta del Sol students who come together on a daily basis to enhance the classroom experience and provide opportunities to help our students on their path of becoming successful individuals in academics, career and life. Whether it is in the classroom, before or after school, or during special events; the support and time you give makes such a huge difference in the lives in the whole of the Puesta del Sol Community.
Thank you so much to everyone who has generously given their time already this school year.
Moving forward there are so many additional opportunities to get involved and we need all of the support you can give. There are chances for
everyone to get involved, whether you are able to give your time during school hours or after hours. Please visit our
PTA Website to learn more about all of the fabulous programs you can get involved in, or review our
PTA Volunteer Opportunities to get started on signing up for volunteer positions.

Library News from Sra. Brody

Library Report
- Each trimester I will be writing a "Library Report". This report features curriculum I have been working on with classes from September through December. At the bottom of the report is a feature about our databases and the home log-ins. Enjoy reviewing the Library Report.
Reading Challenges
- Each year I create "Reading Challenges" featuring books from a variety of genres in the hope that students will read something new and interesting that will help ignite their love of reading. This week the Challenge books will be on display in the library. There will be a bookmark list of the books for students in 2nd and 3rd grade, and another bookmark for students in 4th and 5th grade. There are both English and Spanish books listed on each bookmark. Students who read the required number of books on the list (or all of the books) will receive a bag of prizes, including a book, at the recognition assembly at the end of the year.
Library Collection
- Please save your used ink cartridges of any size, and old cell phones and turn them in to the library. Put a collection box at your office! The company I send them to gives me points that can be turned in to cash at the end of the year. I use the money to replace books that are tired and worn out. The funds help keep our book collection current and looking good. Thanks for the help!
