Dear Library Member,
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day was first observed as a federal holiday in 1986. It falls on the third Monday of January each year. As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy, be sure to stop by the Library (Central open 10 am - 9 pm and Laurence Harbor branch open 1-5 pm Monday, January 16) to pick up a book or DVD about Dr. King and the history of the Civil Rights movement. Or check out digital resources from home like
African-American History Online,
Points of View Reference Center, or
American History Online along with several others.
Monday is also filled with great programming such as
Online Writing Tools,
Family Fun STEAM Challenges and
Maker Monday: Chinese New Year Dragon Craft (for tweens). We have plenty for you to do on Monday
and the rest of the week!
For those of you tween and teen speedcubers, or wannabes, please note that our twice monthly Rubik's Cube Club will be meeting Friday, January 20 at 4:30 pm. Learn how to improve your time to solve this 3D puzzle by competing with others.
Have a spectacular week!
