This week in Chapel we began our walk through the Book of I John. I discussed at the beginning of our Chapel time that it is possible to confuse being a good student at Prince (whose mission is to pour a Gospel-centered Biblical worldview into each one of our students) with having a relationship with God. We discussed that the more we are around the things of God, the more we should ask the following key question: “What does genuine faith look like?” The Book of I John will be answering that question over the next several weeks.
As you and your family go about life this week, consider the following questions for conversation:
CONVERSATION STARTERS:
Read through I John 1:1-4.
“What are some specific ways that being a student at Prince actually helps strengthen your relationship with God?”
“How would it be easy for someone to confuse being a good student at Prince
(or any other Gospel-centered Christian school) with having a relationship with God?
“What was John’s ‘Jesus-story’?”
“Why do you think we should believe what John said/wrote about Jesus?”
“What is the difference between your faith in Jesus being personal and your faith in Jesus being private?”
“Should a Christian’s faith be private? Why or why not?”
“What is your personal ‘Jesus-story’?”
“Who in your life right now needs what Jesus gave to you?”
“How can I pray for you?”
I hope that each one of you knows how much your family means to the overall culture of Prince…and that it really is our privilege and honor to partner with you!
