The geek in me, the passion and my goals and dreams never stop. Some are already saying this is the coolest guiding vehicle in the world, maybe becoming just like Stu's Fly shop "world famous!"There is nothing wrong with dreaming!. |
Hello , I hope you have all had a great holiday and festive time recently. Some of you may have been lucky to get out side and have a wee fish, I hope you had some luck? is it skill ? or is it both? .Thank you all for stopping at the shop ,hiring my services and making , Thomas ,Trigger and myself smile/bark, without you all it just would not happen.
Again like last year the fishing has been great for my clients and fun. There are just a hand-full of dates left available for the season, more so in April a time of low river levels and small mayflies.
SOME FREE FLY RIGGING TIPS FROM STU
Deadly Hi-viz Ants and Deadly blowflies/cicadas fished in tandem with a small Banana fly is the regular go to rig. For willow grubbing brown trout.
This method developed over time from guiding many people onto willow grubbing trout.
It helps people locate there small Banana fly in the surface film and they also act as attractor flies to bring the trout to the Banana fly.
In the shallow riffles where trout feed on mayfly nymphs among the stones they call home. .
A size 14 Stu's Da Bomb nymph or Deadly tungsten nymph with a small size 18 Stu's King Pogo floating nymph, connected to it as a trailing nymph with a small wool indicator placed above them to register any trout strikes.
This rig can be very effective, especially using a
bright chartreuse wool for the indicator as it will be better to see and result in you getting more hook ups than the old fashioned white indicator, after all leaves are not white that constantly come down the river on there journey down stream.
