SAVANNAH, GA, JANUARY 13, 2017
Live Oak Public Libraries management staff recently received hands-on leadership training from Mark Horstman, co-founder of Manager Tools LLC., the Internationally renowned firm known for the Manager Tools pod casts which are downloaded around the world more than 2 million times per month. Manager Tools has coined the phrase, "There's a cast for that."

The mission behind the Manager Tools is to help make every manager effective and every professional productive. The half-day workshop held at S.W. Chatham Library focused in large part on two of the four Management Trinity behaviors, as defined by the Manager Tools. The two behaviors discussed at length were "Know Your People", with the Manager Tools One-on-Ones model, and "Performance Communication" with the Manager Tools Feedback  model which focuses on future effective behavior and results.

Mark Horstman travels the world regularly consulting to and training managers from Fortune 1000 companies. He volunteered to host the Live Oak Public Libraries management staff workshop as an in-kind contribution with a value of $20,000, to help in the ongoing management transition process. Mark is the author of "The Effective Manager," one of Amazon's management best sellers, which will be added to the Library's collection soon.

Mark Horstman is the son of Dean Horstman, one of the Library's Regional Board of Trustees, and serves on the Executive Committee, the Library Director Search Committee, the MOU Committee, the Finance Committee and the Buildings and Sites Committee.  Mr. Dean Horstman was appointed by the County Commission to serve on the Library's Chatham County Board in 2016. Soon afterwards he was voted to serve as Chair.

The Regional Board of Trustees, which is the legal governing body of the Library system, is made up of representatives from all three county boards which include Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties.
