State of the City Address 

Join us Saturday, January 14th, 10:00 am at the Palladium Theater for the 2017 State of the City event.  

Additional parking for the State of the City will be made available at the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement located at 4th Avenue North between 3rd and 4th Street.

Tampa Bay Reporter: Work Begins on St. Petersburg Sewers 
 
Work to line aging sanitary sewer collection mains and city sewer laterals is scheduled to begin Monday (Jan. 9) in the Bahama Shores and Coquina Key neighborhoods.

The work, which is part of Mayor Rick Kriseman's infrastructure plan, the work will help extend the life of sanitary sewer mains and prevent groundwater infiltration from entering the city's sewage collection system. Depending on weather, the $3.2 million lining project is expected to be completed by September.

Tampa Bay Times: Kriseman remains bullish on pier project despite costs and critics 
 
Mayor Rick Kriseman, who has declared the long-delayed pier project will proceed in its entirety despite calls to scale it back, said Tuesday that time is a factor in his decision.

If the city doesn't build the over-water portion of the 26-acre Pier District now - as some have advocated - it could be difficult to do so later, he told the Tampa Bay Times editorial board.

ABC Action News: Cross-Bay Ferry reveals early ridership numbers 
 
We're two months into the Cross-Bay Ferry experiment and supporters are already calling it a success!

New ridership numbers were announced Wednesday and it shows an increase in ridership.

About 13,000 people have rode on the ferry so far that goes between Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Tampa Bay Business Journal: Two months in, Cross Bay Ferry service ridership continues growth 
 
While ridership numbers for the Cross Bay Ferry are still not representative of sustainable sales, the report of increased ticket sales is positive for organizers hoping to continue service beyond the six-month pilot program that ends in April.

Ticket sales for the ferry increased by 700 in December compared to November ridership numbers. The service sold 5,400 tickets throughout December compared to 4,700 in November.

Mitch Perry SPB: Financial report says St. Petersburg is most fiscally healthy city in Florida 
 
St. Petersburg is the most fiscally healthy large city in Florida, according to a new report.

The online Fiscal Times has  put out a list of America's large cities ranked by their fiscal stability - and the 'Burg came out tops in the Sunshine State, and 23rd in the nation.

The report was written by Marc Joffe, director of policy research at the California Policy Center. He compiled the list using some a number of statistical tests.
