Happy Chinese New Year!
At the end of the month we look forward to welcoming the Chinese New Year of the Fire Rooster, which will start on January 28
th
.
The Year of the Fire Rooster is expected to bring fresh challenges requiring quick wit and practical solutions!
The Chinese New Year is the most important of the holidays for the Chinese. It is defined to be the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. Unlike the Christian New Year, which is based on a solar calendar, the Chinese New Year is based on a traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar whose date indicates both the moon phase and the time of the solar year. A lunar month is around 2 days shorter than a solar month. In order to "catch up" with the solar calendar, an extra month is inserted every few years. This is why, according to the solar calendar, the Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year.
We hope you will embrace the opportunities and easily navigate any challenges as you embark on a healthy, prosperous New Year.
Low Voices in our Clinics Reminder
In our continued efforts to provide a conducive, relaxing treatment experience for all of our clients, we have recently re-reminded our staff as well as other practitioners in our Hood River building to please be mindful of the volume of their voices when talking in the clinic hallways and waiting rooms.
We would ask you, our valued clients to please remember this when you are in our clinics, when you are talking in our hallways and at our front desks.
Additionally we have worked with Holistic Massage of Hood River as well as our contractor and the coding department at the city of Hood River to find a solution to an interior door. It will be installed within the next few weeks and separate our Hood River clinic space and the waiting room for Cascade Wellness, Holistic Massage of Hood River and Anya Patton Therapy. We do ask you to please only enter our clinic from the West side / the parking lot side of the building, to support this separation of spaces, thank you.
In both clinics we have signs to please not use your cellphones in the waiting rooms and turn them off for your treatment. Many people are not very aware of the volume of their voice when they are talking on a cellphone.
Thanks so much for your consideration and we hope you have a great treatment experience!
Welcome back, Blog Posts! Carola's newest blog post.

Make your New Year's resolutions stick with Acupuncture
It's that time of year again when you are probably mulling over the habits you want to nix or reinforce in the New Year. Acupuncture isn't solely a way to cure a single illness or health condition. In fact, treatments can aid in addressing a host of issues. If any of these resolutions are on your list, consider calling us to schedule an appointment with one of our licensed Acupuncturists to bolster your chances for success.
Weight Loss:
In addition to modifying your diet and exercising regularly, Acupuncture is an effective way to speed up weight loss. A study published in The International Journal of Neuroscience found that Acupuncture boosted metabolism, suppressed appetite, mobilized the body's energy depots, and improved digestion. Participants, who received Acupuncture, experienced a significant reduction in body weight as compared to the control group.
Stress:
Determined to overcome stress? The body releases Endorphins when receiving Acupuncture, which helps with pain and supports deep relaxation and simply feels good! We call this sensation "Aculand" and our clients smile when we say this - they know!
Productivity:
Stimulating certain Acupuncture points leads to improved concentration and focus, mental clarity and enhanced brain function. These perks can have a serious positive impact on your productivity!
Addiction:
Whether you're trying to quit smoking or would like to kick another habit to the curb, Acupuncture can help. Treatments can alleviate the jitters, cravings, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, and other symptoms related to withdrawal.
Workouts:
Acupuncture can potentially improve your athletic performance, help your muscles recover faster, and allow you to work out more efficiently while preventing or treating injuries.
This list is just a sample of the large variety of cases treatable with Acupuncture.
Call us today to set up an appointment in Hood River: 541-387-4325 or The Dalles: 541-298-2378. Let us help you to determine how this ancient form of medicine can help you strengthen your resolve.
