September 28, 2016

Dear Parent & Faculty Member,

In past entries of The Scoop, I wrote a lot about faith and family. However, my first Scoop of the school year also mentioned "the future," so let's review some "future" ideas that might peak your interest.
  1. As the walls of our future gymnasium & theater building are being raised this week, I am picturing our students cheerfully playing their favorite sports and performing in entertaining plays in our brand new facility.
  2. Speaking of our new building, junior high is working on a new language arts project in which our students will formulate questions, do research, interview the general contractor about the new building, and present their findings to the Parish Council.
  3. We have a new plan to create a time capsule (a very futuristic idea!) for our school and parish.
  4. This week our Spanish class utilized some futuristic props, i.e., "R2D2," the robot/droid from Star Wars, and our parish Deacon Jesus Casas assisted with this innovative learning technique while our students followed along using their iPads.
  5. Mrs. Pauly, our science laboratory teacher, and I are planning to meet with a representative from the not-for-profit "Science Buddies" company that is interested in helping us integrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) into our school.  Coincidentally, I received an email at the same time from NSTA (National Science Teacher Association) that shared ideas on teaching language using Skype, playing games, and using other technologies.
So as we embrace our future together, remember, it is always a great day to be a Cardinal at St. Cletus School!

"Blessings and Best!"

Mr. Thomas Chinske
Principal, St. Cletus School
