PAWS is Celebrating National Volunteer Week
Our Therapy Companions Teach Us
Rusty and I had been visiting Somerford Alzheimer's unit for over a year. One resident was at the stage when interaction with the outside world was impacted. She was always neatly dressed but never talked, smiled, or made eye contact. As  Rusty and I visited the residents that were visibly interested, we did not approach her.

One evening, we were walking close by this resident and Rusty jumped on the couch where she was sitting. Immediately she started to pet him. After a few moments she said "He's a pretty dog."

As I was leaving, I mentioned to the staff that she had interacted with Rusty and had spoken about him. The staff said "She never talks anymore." From that time, we always try to visit with ALL the residents.

DeStress with PAWS
The college semesters are winding down and that means one thing.... It's time for Exam Week DeStress sessions!

Therapy Companion Piper Kearns with new friend Keith
We have been invited to a record number of colleges, high schools, middle schools and even some companies this year for DeStress sessions, and we would love to have you join us!

These events are a great way to meet other teams and bring the unique gift of pet therapy to students, faculty, staff, and employees.  Therapy pets can be any STEX level to participate, but must do well in group settings and with other pets.

Email Clarice  to sign up and help provide this much appreciated stress buster!

Rick and Hank visit throughout Delaware - wherever they are needed! They regularly visit at C.E.R.T.S, Inc. in Newark, DE and Brandywine Senior Living at Seaside Pointe on the weekends when they are downstate. This team also fills in at The Chimes Delaware in Newark. When not visiting with PAWS for People or playing with older sister Daisy or younger brother Owen, Hank is a serious competitor at Dog Shows.
