NYSARC Grant turns dreams into reality for many
9 trips were funded with help from NYSARC

The Madison Cortland Chapter is very thankful for the NYSARC Trust Services Recreation Grant. With the generous disbursement, we were able to support 211 children, teens and adults in 9 fun- filled recreational opportunities throughout the 2016 year. From attending a Def Leopard concert to riding a scenic Adirondack railroad train, the smiles were endless. Thank you NYSARC!

Governor Cuomo neglects to mention disabilities
He spoke about airports, bridges, student loans and more.

We are disappointed and angry that Governor Cuomo neglected to speak about providing a fair wage for direct support professionals during his State of the State addresses. In fact, he neglected to mention people with disabilities at all. Read more about BFair2DirectCare's take on his proposals  here.

Congratulations to Deb Marshall
She won the Self-Advocate Award!

The Central New York DDSO presented self-advocate Deb Marshall with the Self-Advocate Award at their Annual Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Great job Deb!

Donation rolls into The Arc
Bowling is now a dream come true for many

Thanks to donations from the Tappet Twirlers Automobile Club of Rome and Szaraz family, The Arc of Madison Cortland now has an adaptive wheelchair bowling ramp. The ramp makes bowling a dream come true for people who are unable to leave their wheelchair. With a gentle touch, the electronic control system allows the release of the ball from the top of the ramp. It can be brought to any bowling alley and used with regulation size bowling balls. Watch a video of the ramp in action  here .
