Acting with Gail Dartez
Acting: Behaving truthfully in an imagined set of given circumstances. In this class, you will explore theories and techniques used in character development and preparation of a role for the stage; and broaden your understanding of the acting process. American realistic scenes and/or monologues will be our source material for this class. Participants will use straightforward techniques for physical and vocal warm-up and engage in theatre exercises to support good physical connectivity to the character and to "the other." Class exercises are designed to support your intimate understanding of the importance of voice and body (the entire instrument) in the creation of character and in support of the craft of acting.

Returning Students: For those students who have taken class with Ms. Dartez, she will build on that foundation and offer up personalized challenges for continued growth.

Class Location: 2420 N Street, Sacramento, Studio 114
Class Times: Tuesdays, February 7 - March 14, 2017 from 6:30-9:30pm

Stand Up Comedy with Katie Rubin
Have you always wondered how Stand Up Comics DO it? Have you always SECRETLY wanted to try it? Do your friends tell you that you're funny, and say "You should do stand up!" Do YOU secretly know that you're HILARE, but aren't quite sure how to translate that into actual jokes that work onstage? Would you like to learn a very simple joke-writing structure through which you can turn ANY idea or point of view you have into a HILARIOUS JOKE?! Well, lucky you, sister/brother/person - THIS is the class for you! Katie Rubin will teach you the basic structure of ALL JOKES, and she will show you how to channel your witticisms, thoughts, feelings, and WILD points of view into that structure so that you can make scads of people wet themselves with laughter. Take this class if you are BRAND NEW to joke writing - or - if you are currently writing and could use some structured punch-up time/feedback from a kind, and very clear-about-what-works, working comic.
