Get Ready to Party!!!

The Annual Party/Meeting is only 2 weeks away.  Yes I know it is Super Bowl Sunday...but we will be done long before the game begins. There will be some great times of celebrating and visioning for the future, as well as some business to attend to (adopting a budget and elections).  In order for the business part to go quickly and smoothly we invite you to read the report before you come.  It will be available in print the week before and electronically as soon as we are able.

On Jan. 29 and Feb.5 we will have Forums during the Faith Formation time (9:25-10:05) instead of the Pastor's Bible Class in the Fireside room. At the Forums, we will have time to address any questions or concerns that you may have.  The annual report will have an abbreviated version of the budget...if you want to see the full "line by line" please come to the forum.  We also will be making an constitution change in response to some changes in the ELCA, again if you want see the detail on that, the forums are the place to be.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION for those wanting to join Joy Lutheran.  On Sunday, Jan. 29th, there will be an orientation following the second service (we will start about 11:30...since we are close to lunch time we can order some pizza).  This is a great opportunity to better understand who Joy Lutheran is and take the steps needed to be a member.

It is tax time again...your 2016 giving statements will be mailed out on Monday
Church Directory

Picture Directory... It has taken some time to get our database updated and accurate and we are making good progress.  So the first draft is ready.  On Sunday you will see a board with the pictures we have in the system. Check to see if yours is there.  If not, please turn one, in or update your picture with a new one if you have it.

Phone/Address Directory   We also have a few copies of the Phone/address Directory available by the board, please check to make sure all the information is correct and update as needed.  In 2 weeks we will go to print.

Name Tag s... are a great way to help people remember you name.  We are working on a system to have more permanent name tags available, but for now any time you can wear one helps the rest of us get to know you.  Thank you.

Loves of Love

Feb. 5 and 12th.   Bake your muffins, rolls and bread and bring to the Fireside Room to be sold after worship. Money raised will go toward the immediate needs of our sister church in Malawi.

Change in Nursery Hours

Because we have not had people making use of the nursery during the Faith Formation time between worship services we will save resources and not be offering child care at that time.  If it becomes a need in the future we can reinstate it.  But for now, we will only be offering child care during the 10:15 worship.

Joy's Nursery is professionally staffed with experienced child caregivers who will look after your precious little ones as if they were their own.

Joy proudly introduces Melissa and Kyra Miller, our professional Mother-Daughter Nursery Team!

Joy Lutheran is looking for A/V Equipment Operators!

Lee Northouse will be conducting a class on running the sound board, computer/projector, and the camera at Joy this Sunday morning, 1/22, after the Traditional Worship Service (9:20).  This should provide time for basic knowledge before Spirit of Joy starts practicing.  Then we can do some actual sound adjustments with them.  We have to be done before Contemporary Worship begins at 10:15 (depends on how many questions).  You are welcome to join Lee for all or part of both the Traditional (8:15) and/or Contemporary (10:15) Worship Services to see what all happens.  This invitation is for this Sunday or ANY Sunday.

Don't worry if you cannot attend this week.  Lee will conduct additional sessions as needed.
Please bring your calendars - we are looking to assign people to cover in late February and early March.  We can even use a team approach (you and a friend) until you become more comfortable with the equipment.

Thanks for helping with audio and video activities at Joy.  Remember: RESERVED SEATING IS IN THE BACK!

THANK YOU! To Steve & Wendy Stepaniak for their generous donation to Joy of this amazing work of stained glass art in our Narthex.

Winter Coat Drive

We have a barrel in the Narthex for new or gently used and clean coats, mittens, hats, scarves, warm socks, long underwear, etc. The barrel will be picked up on Feb. 10, so now is the time to make a donation.

  • Have you registered yet for the Tenth Triennial Gathering of the Women of the ELCA?  "Early-bird registration" closes January 6th but one can register up until the gathering time.  The Gathering is July 13-16, 2017 in Minneapolis.  This Gathering of thousands of women will never be closer so don't miss this opportunity for inspiration, fellowship, education, worship, conversation, prayer, laughter, music, and affirmation.  Our own JWELCA will make some funds available to those Joy women who'd like to attend the Triennial Gathering.  Contact Emilie Horken or Marcia Lindseth for more information.  Let's get a BIG turn-out from Joy!  Check out the bulletin board in the narthex hallway for additional information on speakers, registration procedures, or go online at www.welcatg.org to learn more about this wonderful opportunity for you.

  • Have you checked out the library in the Fireside Room recently? JWELCA maintains our church library.  There are many terrific resources for you in the library.  If you need some good devotional reading materials, see the bulletin board in the church hallway and check these items out in the library.  You won't be sorry!
