A "Cinderella Story" for the CTC Computer Room
The INN's new Center for Transformative Change (CTC) has received a $20,000 grant from National Grid through it's Cinderella grant program. The grant covered the IT infrastructure of the Computer Resource Room, which assists guests of the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen with services including basic computer training and job searches. An additional $6,000 from National Grid was donated through a drive for hunger awareness. The company will also sponsor a meal at the Mary Brennan INN this summer with employee volunteers.

Girl Scouts Donate 350 'Snack Packs' For Kids
Great Youth Project Idea for Summer
With summer quickly approaching and school coming to an end, The INN's soup kitchens will soon see an increase in school-aged children with their parents. Girl Scout bakers from 12 different Nassau County towns completed a community service project during the first annual Nassau County Bake-Off competition at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on May 13th. While their baked goods were being judged for prizes, the girls created 350 non-perishable "snack packs" for kids at the Mary Brennan INN. Kits included a juice box, peanut butter or cheese crackers, fruit snacks, a tuna packet or beef jerky and a bag of goldfish or chips. The bags will be distributed to children on Memorial Day when school is out and soup kitchen staff expects more children in attendance.

Want to donate some non-perishable, kid friendly food items for the summer? You can drop-off food donations at the Mary Brennan INN (100 Madison Avenue, Hempstead). Monday-Friday 9-11am and 2-4pm.
