In Pieces
The concept for this exhibition is a meditation on technology and how technology has affected the ways we think about ourselves. Asking: do we know ourselves differently than we did before an encounter with a sculpture, a book, a photograph, a video? Each interaction is composed of an experiential sequence, some of which appears in a recognizable chronology, others of which, dematerialized, scatter in a swirling orbit of nonsense.

Public Pool

Jive Detroit Opening
For years, artists have known that to make prints you don't have to have access to a conventional press,. There are woodcuts, collographs, monotypes, photo transfers. Artists have made prints with rolling pins, hammers, body parts, car tires. Beginning January 21, 2017 Public Pool celebrates the ingenuity of printmakers without access to presses. Perhaps the most important thing to take away from the show is that it's not just about printing, but about the power of seizing means of production in order to broadcast one's own truth.
