Social Justice Team Meeting -  Sunday, January 29 at 12 noon in Room 6.

Saturday, January 21, 2017

We will be meeting and marching with the UU congregations from Croton & White Plains.  Between the three groups we will have almost 100 people!!  A great showing from a small population of UUs - all of whom are very frightened about the next four years.

The plan is to meet the Croton congregation in front of the UU-UNO office.  It is located at 44th street and First Avenue at the SW corner. One women works there and it is a possibility that the building will be opened for us if the weather is bad. As of now it is supposed to be 50 degrees and a small chance of rain.
(I am hoping for a monsoon on Friday!)  Our start time is 12:30 so we should meet the Croton folks by 12:00.

Therefore, assuming there will be hoards of people in the area, I think we should leave Grand Central by 11:30.  We will be meeting at Track 30 as it is the most out of the way track in GCT and therefore hopefully will be least crowded.  YOU SHOULD BE READY TO LEAVE BY 11:30.  Read between the lines -  go to the bathroom by then and get anything you need.  Figure out your train schedule  to get you there on time.  I will email you a final list of people and their phone numbers.  I would print that out in case you need it.  If you are traveling with someone I would make an emergency plan in case you get separated.

I have read that they said not to bring back packs.  Not sure how they can enforce this but I am passing this info on.  I would bring water and food for the day.  I have no idea what to expect and what will be available to us.  Click Here   for a march route to review. They are expecting over 100,000 people in NYC.

If you are planning to go, please contact Betty Gilmore: emgilmore1@msn.com

Revolutionary Love: Disruptive Ethics to Dismantle Racism
A conference sponsored by The Middle Project and the Unitarian Universalist Association
April 28 - 30, 2017.

No matter the lever we pulled in the voting booth last November, we know this: A radical shift in our national narrative lies ahead. The questions before us are these: What is the story we believe in? How do we create the world about which we dream?  Now is the time for leaders-ethical leaders-to lead. Leaders who feel called and equipped to make America just and to make America safe for all of those who are on the margins. Leaders impassioned to work for a healed and whole nation that is a faithful global neighbor. Join us as we strategize across generations.

Learn more, and register. When purchasing general admission tickets, enter "UU17" in the promo code to receive the special UU Rate of $275 (Savings of $124; regularly $399). This code is good through Monday, January 16 at 11:59 pm.
