Have you registered for the New Mexico PTA State Convention on May 6th and 7th at the Sheraton Albuquerque Airport Hotel?

This is an opportunity for PTA members and PTA leaders to attend informative workshops and network with state and national leaders.  Attending Convention is a legitimate use of your PTA funds.  If you are a Title I school, have you spoken with your school Principal to see if there are Title I funds available to attend?

Each year, PTA members and PTA leaders come together to:
  • Receive officer training for your current or new position
  • Attend relevant workshops  that concern you and your child
  • Hear from state and national experts on emerging issues in our state
  • Speak with representatives from National PTA
  • Talk with exhibitors about their programs and services that can support your PTA
  • Network with other PTA members about what works....and what doesn't work
Do you wonder how to:
  • Efficiently and practically do your PTA work?
  • Bring programs to your school that benefit your students?
  • Strategically plan for the next school year?
  • Gain skills that benefit your school and the work you do?
  • Engage more male role models...dads, uncles, grandfathers?
  • Understand what it really means to be a Title I school?
  • Utilize Social Media to communicate to the families in your school?

These are just some of the reasons and benefits to attend the NMPTA State Convention!  Oh...did I mention the giveaways, door prizes, great food and the opportunity to talk one on one with New Mexico PTA Board members? We look forward to seeing you at the 101st NMPTA State Convention.   Go to the NMPTA website today to register!  Remember...

Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Soon!
Everyday teachers touch the lives of millions of children for their hard work and impact beyond the boundaries of the classroom. We're so excited to celebrate these real life superheroes during National PTA's Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6.
Teacher Appreciation Week is the perfect time to thank teachers for making the difference they make.
To help you plan for the week, we've created a Teacher Appreciation Week Promotional Toolkit with ideas and resources you can use to honor teachers:

We also encourage you to celebrate a special teacher in your life or a teacher of a child in your life. Tell them the impact they've had or what you've accomplished because of their influence. Use #ThankATeacher to join the conversation online.
Sometimes a simple thanks is all a teacher needs to feel valued. Share the toolkit with your PTAs and families.
Let's make our teachers feel extra special this Teacher Appreciation Week because their incredible superpowers truly make a difference in children's lives.

Don't Wait to Vaccinate!

As your future pharmacists and students at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, we wanted to take time to provide some important information regarding you and your child's health. Here are a few facts about vaccines that are most important for you to know:
  1. Vaccines are safe and protect your children from some of the diseases that could cause them to become very sick
  2. Vaccines will not "overload" your child's immune system and are tested to ensure safety
  3. Immunizations provide herd immunity, but what exactly is herd immunity?
    1. When the majority of people are vaccinated, those people who cannot get vaccinated are protected from the spread of disease
    2. These people include those who are too young, such as newborns, the elderly, or who have a weakened immune system or are allergic to the vaccine
  1. People who choose not to get vaccinated may become ill, spreading the disease to those cannot be vaccinated
Remember, vaccines not only protect you and your child, but everyone in your community as well. For more facts and information on vaccines visit                     -UNM Student Pharmacists
