Newsletter: Week of January 16, 2017

From the Executive Director

Greg Epstein

In the 21st century, many of us are experiencing a great deal of confusion when it comes to our society's understanding of what it means to be male today. Or more precisely: what *should* it mean to be a man today? How do we, as feminist humanists, learn to understand and affirm the positive aspects of masculinity and manhood? How can men, straight and gay and otherwise, get past fear of ourselves and of one another to learn how to love more deeply and connect more generously with the world around us?

In my first monthly talk of 2017, I will explore publicly for the first time this topic that has meant a great deal to me in my personal life. I was raised as a feminist and continue to be passionate about women's rights, but have for many years had to search, through confusion and sometimes real pain, for answers to the questions above. Join us for a wide-ranging community discussion, to include the stories of men and women of different backgrounds. (Yes, both women and men are enthusiastically encouraged to attend this session! As with women's studies, this is a topic that impacts all of us). 1:30-3:00pm, 30 JFK Street. Read more here.
