HEB Transit launches strategic planning process
highway-panorama.jpg HEB Transit is an organization focused on providing transportation options for residents of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford. As these cities offer no public transportation, residents who cannot afford a car face many challenges when trying to get to and from work, school, doctor's appointments, or general errands.

The organization currently offers a service to provide transportation to and from work for residents who have no other means of transportation. Riders receive a transit pass each month from a participating agency and pay just $2 each way to work and back. Riders must live and work in HEB, or they can be taken to the TRE station and ride the train if they work in Fort Worth or Dallas. These services are facilitated through a contract with Catholic Charities, which provides scheduling, vehicles, and drivers.

In 2017, HEB Transit is evaluating the services they provide to our residents. Beginning in late January, the HEB Transit Oversight Committee will begin an 8-week strategic planning process to review various options. The planning sessions will be hosted at Mission Central.

Last November, Mission Central celebrated our 20th Anniversary with a gala dinner at the Hurst Conference Center.

Guests enjoyed keynote speaker Nate Hearne, a video presentation about Mission Central's history, and visiting with old and new friends.

We'd like to offer special thanks to our sponsors for the evening: Signature Sponsor, First United Methodist Church of Hurst; Platinum Sponsors, the City of Hurst, Drs. Robin and Kevin Henson, and Texas Health HEB; and Silver Sponsors, CUNA Mutual Group, Betsy and Henry Joyner, and Whitley Penn.

Through the generosity of our sponsors and donors, we raised more than $50,000 at the event to support Mission Central's programs. To see a photo album of the event, please visit our Facebook page.

Most of Mission Central's current volunteer opportunities are designed for older teens or adults. However, we often receive requests from families who would like to volunteer together with their younger children.

To help us plan our activities in 2017, please complete a survey to help us learn more about your interest in volunteering as a family.
