Journal-Sentinel columnist to discuss mindfulness during Jan. 24 author talk
Pewaukee-based psychotherapist, trainer, author and award-winning Journal Sentinel columnist Philip Chard will give a free talk in January on enhancing wellbeing through mindfulness and other contemplative practices.

The talk is slated for 6:30 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the Rocca Room.

Event is free, though space is limited. No registration required.

Sing and dance with Shrek
Join Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and others in a song-based storytime with the Theater For Young Audiences  cast of "Shrek: The Musical."

The event, which is part of Mead's Sundown Storytime series, begins at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 18, in The Loft (third floor).

Mead to host 4th annual cribbage tourney
Mead Public Library will host its fourth annual Cribbage Tournament from 9:15 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Rocca Room. 

Register by Jan. 19. Click to sign up.

Each participant will play seven games, with prizes for the top-three finishers. Bring a cribbage board, if possible.
Game designer coming to Mead
Jay Sonia, owner of Storm Bunny Studios, will be at Mead Public Library to discuss his work as a roleplaying game author and designer and to lead a session of his game, "Rhune: Dawn of Twilight."

Saturated World, the explosion in technology-based gaming, social networking, instant communication and entertainment media has become a potent and ubiquitous force in child development. Join Pewaukee-based psychotherapist, trainer, author and award-winning Journal Sentinel columnist Philip Chard in exploring the perils and promises posed by technology.
