| January Is The Third and Final Month of the 2017 Open Enrollment Period! |
|
As you may know, members of a federally recognized Tribe and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Shareholders can enroll in Marketplace coverage any time of the year; American Indians and Alaska Natives who sign up through the Marketplace, there is no limited enrollment period and they are able to change plans as often as once a month.
However, the Open Enrollment Period is running from November 1-January 31st. This is the ideal time to meet with enrollment Assisters at your local clinic to review, compare, and make changes to your health care coverage for the year.
It is important that Indian Country visits their local Indian Health Service or Tribal Indian Clinic to evaluate health care coverage for 2017!

This Wednesday, a group of 15+ organizations will join forces on FB Live to discuss why the #ACAworks for ALL Americans. The event will start with Voto Latino's Facebook Live Feed at 2:30pm ET.
NIHB'S portion of #ACAworks Facebook Live Tag Team starts
this Wednesday, January 11th at 3:10 pm ET. This conversation will focus on how the #ACAworks for ALL Americans, and feature 15+ organizations that serve a diverse set of constituencies-including youth, women, LGBT, AfAm, Latino, AAPI communities, and of course AI/AN!

Important Deadlines For Coverage
|
|
There are a variety of deadlines to consider for securing and make changes to your healthcare coverage throughout the year.
Please consider these dates:
- January 15th, the last day you can make changes to your health insurance coverage through the marketplace and have these changes be effective by February 1st.
- January 31st, the last day to sign up or make changes to your coverage through the marketplace and have this coverage start by March 1st. Remember, qualifying American Indians and Alaska Natives can sign up for health insurance through the marketplace any month, throughout the year. But, it is still important to track monthly enrollment deadlines.
- February 14th, If you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan, this is the last day you can leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare. If you switch to Original Medicare during this period, you'll have until February 14 to also join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage.
