We are thrilled to announce that we have reached our challenge goal! We have received more than 135 commitment Cards, and so we will receive our $5,000 challenge gift for our 2018 ministries.  Thank you to each household who has committed to giving in 2018, and a special thank you to our Nativity member who is giving this challenge gift.

+ noisy offering

THIS SUNDAY'S NOISY OFFERING will support ABCCM's Heating Fund.  We've already had our first snow of the season, and the cold is taking a grip on Asheville!  Through this Noisy Offering, we give thanks for the blessing of warmth and for the opportunity to share it with others. Your gifts collected today will help provide heat for our neighbors in the cold months ahead.  Thank you for your generosity in keeping our neighbors warm.

+ end of year giving

With the success of our 2018 stewardship drive, we approach Christmas poised for a great year to come.

We'd love to end this current year by cover ing all of the expenses for the ministry we have shared i n 2017.  As 2017 comes to a close, please check to see that your giving commitment for the year is fulfilled.

And if you are so able, w e also invite you to consider a year-end gift to Nativity.  If you'd like to give a gift of stock, please click here to contact our financial secretary, Carrie Dahlberg, who can assist you.

Thank you for your generous support, now and throughout the year.  Your giving allows Nativity to Make Christ Known in many exciting ways!

+ welcome table

The Welcome Table at Skyland Methodist Church, which Nativity has been a part of ever since its inception, grows stronger with each passing month.   We're into our 5th year of serving breakfast on Saturdays from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.   Among those who attend are the lonely, the homeless, and whole families who don't have enough food in their homes for the weekend.  Some people come to breakfast after picking up food at the Calvary food pantry in Fletcher.   And there's the table of 6 to 8 ladies who have made the Welcome Table their social gathering place every weekend.

Nativity Welcome Table Volunteers
Lisa Hamilton, Corinne Feid, Princess Ferguson, Randy Treiber, Susan Montella, Nancy Seekamp (Nativity Coordinator), LaRue Ridenhour, Allen Ray, and Kathleen Treiber.

Nativity is in charge of the third Saturday each month.  The sign-up sheet at the Welcome Desk in Fellowship Hall gives people a chance to pick what they'd like to help with: Friday prep or Saturday kitchen help, set-up, greeting, serving, busing, or dishwashing.  There is a core list of workers, but we are always looking for more people to express an interest because each time we serve, we need 10 - 12 people to fill all the roles.  Children are most welcome to help; younger ones need to have an adult with them.

This ministry of Nativity has been an enlightening and satisfying experience on several levels.  People who serve are always saying how glad they are to be there and look forward to the next chance to help.   Two unsung heroes are Jeanne Russell, who shops every month for our groceries and Nancy Phillips, who acts as "red apron" in charge of the dining hall.  Now that you know about the Welcome Table, come join us!  Just call Nancy Seekamp at 687-8265 or email at [email protected] or sign up at the Welcome Desk.
This Advent, Sparkhouse is offering a free daily family devotion, sent to your email!  To receive these devotions, click this link and sign up.
Would you like to assist with Christmas dinner?
