IT'S OUR END-OF-THE-YEAR APPEAL, AND I HAVE A CONFESSION.
I've had a serious crush since the 1980s. His name is Pac-Man. That neon-yellow, dot-gobbling character stole my heart the minute I powered up my first Commodore 64 computer. Pac and I spent hours together in his video maze, devouring dots and evading four murderous monsters: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Together, we relentlessly pursued those flashing Power Pellets in the corners of the maze. These power-ups made us temporarily invulnerable so we could swallow up the enemy, earn bonus points, and advance to the next level of play. What a guy! What a concept!

What if life gave you power-ups--formidable advantages, such as strength, energy, momentum, influence, resources, opportunities?  What could you do with a powerful force like that behind you, a force that helped you be more, do more for your community? Well, that's one thing I don't have to wonder about at all. The Foundation has built-in power-ups: our Community Partners.

When you support The Cape Cod Foundation, you are powering up nonprofit organizations across the Cape. You are improving the lives of the homeless, seriously ill children, at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence, and those with developmental and physical disabilities. You are making healthcare a priority by funding clinics, substance abuse treatment, and important health education programs. You are fueling job training, mentoring opportunities, after-school programs, and scholarships. You are restoring waterways, conserving land, and protecting wildlife. You are orchestrating innovative arts and cultural experiences. You are also powering up the Foundation's civic leadership initiatives that bring vital resources and opportunities to strengthen these hardworking nonprofit organizations, the heartbeat of our community.

Power Up! is not just a silly catch-phrase. It's a way of thinking, acting, collaborating, and problem-solving. Power-ups are the real-life advantages we need to drive social change. Intelligently. Responsibly. Effectively. Collectively.

This year, we have invested $2.7 million back into the Cape community to date, an increase of 10% over last year. We simply couldn't reach this milestone without the year-end gifts we receive from our Community Partners. Thank you!  If you haven't made a gift, please join us. We can build a great legacy for our community. Together.
