Mayor Landrieu, Governor Edwards Announce 2017 Public Safety Investments

NEW ORLEANS-, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined Governor John Bel Edwards, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison, Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Mike Edmondson, and FBI Agent in Charge Jeff Sallet to introduce a nearly $40 million package of public safety and homeland security investments that will help fight crime.The package of new citywide technology investments, new police cars for added visibility and new ABO regulations will enhance security in hot spots throughout the city and harden critical assets that are vulnerable to terrorist-like incidents.

"Public safety continues to be our top priority," Mayor Landrieu said. "The best way to continue to fight crime is to improve manpower, crime deterrence and our apprehensions with investments in technology and visibility. In the wake of attacks in Nice, Berlin and Israel, we also have to ensure we bolster our homeland security preparedness. With the help of Governor Edwards, the Convention Center, City Council, Legislators and other stakeholders, we are confident this package will increase security for New Orleans residents, workers and visitors."

"New Orleans is not only a great place to live and work but a major tourist destination and we must do all that we can to provide first rate protection for the enjoyment of everyone," said Gov. John Bel Edwards. "This partnership between the City and State is critically important. This isn't just about the French Quarter, this is about the entire City of New Orleans, and I am grateful for the hard work put into this effort by the mayor, as well as state and city officials."

NOPD Superintendent Chief Michael Harrison said, "All of these efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to make our neighborhoods safer. Under this new plan, we are expanding the resources to our officers and bolstering our preparedness. I am confident that this package will help strengthen the tactical efforts of the New Orleans police department and our partners."

State Police Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson said, "For Louisiana to be successful, New Orleans must be successful. For this reason, State Police continues an unprecedented partnership with the New Orleans Police Department by dedicating resources to assist them in the French Quarter. The multi-faceted proposal by the city makes clear that public safety of our citizens and tourists is a priority and State Police is proud to partner in this bold initiative."

Jeffrey S. Sallet, FBI New Orleans Division - Special Agent in Charge, said, "The FBI New Orleans Division remains vigilant in the fight to combat terrorism and violent crime throughout the city. Now, more than ever, is the time that we stand united with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to combat any and all threats to public safety. Teamwork is not optional. One Team - One Fight."

These 2017 investments build on a 60 percent reduction in police response times to emergency calls and a major, double-digit reduction in armed robberies in 2016.  Additionally, a 2016 University of New Orleans survey reported citizen satisfaction with NOPD rose from 33 percent in 2009 to 64 percent in 2016.

The City increased the NOPD's budget to $150 million for 2017, which includes $11 million for overtime, new license plate readers, and more than 20 new civilian positions.  Previous investments in a new online electronic police reporting system will help reduce NOPD manpower pressures by allowing individuals to get online police reports for minor infractions such as lost or stolen items, non-injury car accidents, and more.  The NOPD will also unveil stronger enforcement of the City's new false alarm penalty laws, which seeks to reduce unverified burglar alarms even further.

The investments unveiled today include:
  • Over 200 new high-definition, public security cameras and signage in 20 hotspots;
  • Over 100 new license plate readers, deployed citywide;
  • A 24/7 real-time Command Center, into which the cameras, license plate readers and other technology will be monitored;
  • 300 new police take-home cars to improve visibility for NOPD patrol officers who reside in Orleans Parish;
  • Use of the OPSO Mobile Booking unit to reduce taking officers off the street for arrests;
  • Adding K9 units with gun and bomb-sniffing potential to deter illegal possession of firearm detection and terrorist activity;
  • Remote sensing technology on Bourbon Street to assist officers in illegal possession of a firearm detection;
  • Hardening street infrastructure and pedestrianizing Bourbon Street with bollards during certain times to prevent a Nice or Berlin-style attack; and
  • Brighter LED lighting in the Vieux CarrĂ©, which had previously only been used citywide.
In addition to these investments, the Mayor also committed to working with the City Council on new ABO (alcoholic beverage outlets) regulations to mandate outward-facing security cameras that can be tied into a 24-7 Command Center for monitoring, as well as a law to mandate that ABOs ensure their doors are closed at 3 a.m.

The costs of the plan are being shared--$16 million from various City sources and $23 million from the the State-owned Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Louisiana's top performing online charter, Connections Academy, encourages parents to register right now for 200 vacancies

Enrollment can apply to a "mid-year" switching if your child needs a new school right NOW or early application for 2017-2018 school year; all grades

         Sometimes there is no avoiding one reality as you approach the middle of the academic year: Your child is in need of a new school.
         Take heart, said Louisiana Connections Academy Superintendent Lonnie Luce: It's not uncommon.
         The good news is, there are 200 openings in grades K-12 right now at the top academic performing online charter school in Louisiana, and families are welcome to switch right now or go ahead and enroll for the 2017-2018 school year.
         "Changing to a online charter school is not just a change of venue, but a change of mindset," said LACA Superintendent Luce. "But don't delay: Our vacancies fill up fast."
         According to LACA's research, the top reasons for switching schools mid-year usually are:
  •       The student require or wants greater flexibility;
  •       The student wants a change from their local school;
  •       The student wants a safe learning environment.
         Louisiana Connections Academy is a K-12 school, and mid-year switches to the school are most likely to occur in the higher grades, said Ms. Centanni. In Louisiana, 2000 students are currently enrolled in Louisiana Connections Academy.
         Check with enrollment officials at LACA NOW for admission deadlines and a list of required documents, which could include:
  •       application forms
  •       transcripts
  •       birth certificate
  •       immunization records

Masters of Improvisation Concert; Kidd Jordan, Steve Swell, Joel Futterman & Alvin Fielder Concert

Tuesday January 24 @ the Music at the MInt

Kidd Jordan
NEW ORLEANS - The New Quorum and Valid Records present KIdd Jordan (tenor sax,) Steve Swell (trombone,) Joel Futterman (piano,) and Alvin Fielder (drums) in concert at Music at Mint Theatre, Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Ave) 8 PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  Admission is $15.00.

New York trombonist and composer Steve Swell joins New Orleans free jazz saxophone legend Sir Edward "Kidd" Jordan and Kidd's longtime associates Alvin Fielder and Joel Futterman for a night of explosive improvisational music. When these "Masters of Improvisation" get together their individual and shared histories-reaching back to the deep roots of jazz and African-American culture-bring a depth of soulful expression to the purpose of exploring new directions in the art of "in the moment" collectively improvised music. They combine skilled musicianship with a celebration of improvisational conversations that take the listener on musical journeys spanning the emotions and musical genres. Their shared goal is artistic freedom and devotion to the unexpected as they stretch and push the boundaries of tonality, rhythm, and harmony.

Edward "Kidd" Jordan's multi-faceted legacy is among the most influential and enduring in the history of improvised music. An integral part of the seminal musical tapestry of New Orleans, he is the patriarch of one of the city's most respected musical families and his parallel careers as a performer and educator span the past six decades. Now 81, he has worked most of his life outside the mainstream spotlight, tirelessly sustaining the jazz continuum through both his teaching and his cutting edge performances all around the globe with like-minded improvisers.

Steve Swell's long list of musical associates ranges from Buddy Rich to Cecil Taylor reflecting his diverse experiences in the music as composer, educator, and award -winning instrumentalist active in the New York "downtown" scene.

Joel Futterman's relentless piano practice regime has lead to his breakthrough development of his high energy "three handed" technique and his unique voice in the history of extended piano techniques and creative music. Born and raised in Chicago and now residing in Virginia Beach, VA, Joel has enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration with Kidd Jordan and Alvin Fielder.

Alvin Fielder has an encyclopedic knowledge of jazz drumming, developed through years of study and experience. As a student at Xavier, New Orleans in the early fifties, Alvin studied with the legendary drummer Ed Blackwell. In Chicago in the mid 1960's, he was one of the founders of the Association For the Advancement of Creative Musicians, the most important expression of African-American musical self-determination of the past fifty years. Fielder has been performing with Kidd Jordan since the 70's and with whom be founded the Improvisational Arts Quintet which still operates under the motto of "No Compromise."

The New Quorum is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to bringing professional musicians and writers from across the globe to New Orleans for meaningful cultural exchange with local and regional artists.

Valid Records is an independent label founded by producer Benjamin Lyons to present the creative possibilities of the New Orleans music scene. "The Valid recordings are satisfyingly uncommon, documenting a New Orleans jazz noticeably removed from the "official" versions . . . [They] challenge any homogeneous notion of the city's sound, and open up the rigid, archival sensibility to which "N'Awlins jazz" is too often confined." - CODA Magazine

Music at the Mint Theatre is located on the 3rd floor of the Old U.S. Mint.  It is a state-of-the-art concert and recording space operated by the Louisiana State Museum.

For more information on this event, please contact Benjamin Lyons via email at benjamin@validrecords.com.

 Cup Art Contest Winner New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) Student Sha' Bria Cousin

The winner of the 2017 annual Mardi Gras Cup Art Contest is Sha' Bria Counsin, a visual arts student at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA).

Each year, the krewe conducts a contest among Orleans Parish middle and high public school students for an opportunity to create the artwork on the thousands of cups that are thrown by Muses at their parade. The winner's school secures a grant for art programs for the upcoming year.
Muses Board member and Chair of Community Outreach Kathy Conklin said, "The artistic talent shown in the submissions continues to amaze us every year. We are proud to support art programs across the Greater New Orleans Area. Our mission is to ensure that students like Sha' Bria have opportunities to express themselves artistically and contribute to the rich culture of Mardi Gras and of our city."

Sha' Bria's artwork beautifully depicts the theme of this year's contest: the fantastical creatures of Greek mythology. NOCCA art teacher Mary Jane Parker praised
the work of Sha' Bria, "She is a very talented young artist who truly enjoyed creating the cup design for the Muses," said Parker.

The cup design is printed on more than 80,000 cups.  The Krewe of Muses parades on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.

 Krewe of Muses and NOLA Brewing Co.
Release Muses Brew

For the third year, the Krewe of Muses has partnered with NOLA Brewing Co. to release the best selling Muses Ale, with a portion of all sales going to support the Krewe of Muses Foundation. Beer aficionados should be on the look out for Muses Beer, which is only available during Mardi Gras season.

Muses Ale is a Belgian-style ale, light on the palate with low bitterness and a mild citrus edge. The beer can be found at NOLA Brewing's tap room at 3001 Tchoupitoulas and at many neighborhood outlets. It is easily identified by the Muses red high-heeled tap handle.

The Muses Foundation supports numerous charitable beneficiaries, which include the Youth Empowerment Project and the SBP Project, among others.

JANUARY 24 - NATIONAL BEER CAN APPRECIATION DAY - NATIONAL COMPLIMENT DAY - NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY

Beer Can Appreciation Day - January 24
BEER CAN APPRECIATION DAY
Beer Can Appreciation Day recognizes the great day in 1935 when beer was first sold in cans.
Credit for the first beverage can goes to the Krueger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virginia. Made of steel and weighing in at almost 4 ounces, these hefty canisters opened with a church key.
The first beer produced in a can goes to Krueger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virgina but it was American Can Company that made canning drinkable beer possible.
Krueger's took the risk with American Can Company just weeks before the repeal of Prohibition.
Weighing in at 4 ounces, the hefty steel cans opened with a church key. Loyal Krueger's drinkers favored the can over the bottle 9-1. Soon
* 1935 -Cone-Top -  G. Heilemann Brewing Company - La Crosse, WI - Introduces cone-top cans which fit existing bottling lines convenient for small brewers with small budgets.
* 1963 -Pull Tab - Pittsburgh Brewing Company - Revolutionizes the beer can when it introduces Iron City Beer in self-opening cans with pull tabs, also known as pop tops. With their sharp edges, the pull tabs became the feared litter at beaches, parks, back yards and anywhere beverages were consumed.
* 1975 - Stay Tab- Falls City Brewing Company of Louisville, KY introduces the Stay Tab removing the pull tab's environmental impact.

National Compliment Day - January 24
NATIONAL COMPLIMENT DAY
What a wonderful way to brighten someone's day or to give credit for a job well done!  Give an extra compliment on National Compliment Day which is observed annually on January 24.
A compliment has a powerful effect. It can instill confidence in a child, or validate someone's hard work. A compliment not only improves the receiver's mood, but it also says something about the giver. It tells them you noticed. Whether we recognize someone's achievement or their classic style, a compliment can go a long way.
To give a great compliment, first be sincere. People have a way of knowing when we are fake. If you don't mean it, it's worse than getting a thoughtless birthday gift.
Complimenting character versus a new haircut are different rewards. The first says you respect the person and the other tells them you paid attention. Sometimes the receiver needs to hear one or the other, or both.
Human beings like to be unique, original. Strive to compliment what makes a person stand out above the rest. Take the time to reflect on what you admire about the person.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Make sure to compliment someone and use #NationalComplimentDay to post on social media.
HISTORY
Kathy Chamberlin of Hopkinton, NH and Debby Hoffman of Concord, NH created National Compliment Day in 1998.

National Peanut Butter Day - January 24
NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY
Creamy or chunky, with chocolate or with jelly,  peanut butter has been an American staple for generations. National Peanut Butter Day is observed annually on January 24th.
The early peanut butter made by the Aztecs and Incas around 1000 BC was more of a paste and not nearly as creamy as the peanut butter we know now.
Peanut butter didn't become widely used until the 20th century. First, the peanut had to be considered more than animal feed, which it was until the late 1800s. At the turn of the century, inventions that made planting, cultivating and harvesting the legume (the peanut isn't a nut at all) made it possible to see the peanut as a retail and wholesale food item. (See more by visiting National Peanut Day -September 13)
Peanut butter is a good source of vitamin E, B6, niacin, calcium, potassium and iron, is packed with protein and is rich in healthy monounsaturated fat.
We can thank four men for the inventions and processes that bring us the creamy, smooth peanut butter we enjoy today: Marcus Gilmore Edson of Canada, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, Dr. Ambrose Straub of St. Louis, Missouri and chemist Joseph Rosefield.
In 1884, Edson developed a process to make peanut paste from milling roasted peanuts between two heated plates. The famous cereal maker and health food specialist of the time, Kellogg, patented a process with raw peanuts in 1895. Dr. Straub is responsible for patenting a peanut butter making machine in 1903.

CROSS-COUNTRY "POP-UP" TRAVELING BAR AND HISTORIC COCKTAIL LIBRARY MAKES ITS WAY TO NEW ORLEANS

"The Traveller Bar" is on a curatedbrandwide tour of Loews Hotels

On Jan. 25 Loews Hotels' exclusive new traveling "pop-up" experience, The Traveller Bar, will debut at its new month-long home at Loews New Orleans Hotel. As the first ever "pop-up" traveling bar of its kind, The Traveller is making the rounds to the 25 individual Loews Hotels' destinations across the country, re-imagining the guest beverage experience. The cross-country tour pays homage to historic pioneers of America's cocktail culture by crafting 150-year-old drink recipes.

"We wanted to create a truly authentic and culturally relevant, yet light hearted, intimate and engaging beverage concept for cocktail enthusiasts, and were able to draw inspiration from the classic cocktail era to engage our guests and that could also be shared across our hotel portfolio," said Mark Weiss, Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage at Loews Hotels. "Our ultimate goal is to shake up the modern day drinking culture and honor the industry's talented and artisanal beverage artists, building on Loews' commitment to offering a distinctly creative beverage & food culture."

Constructed from an old elevator car, the travelling bar's metal-framed structure is re-assembled onsite at each Loews property. The contemporary concept features a zinc-topped bar, four leather bar stools, an antique cash register and a back metal mesh wall lined with shelves of bottles and an impressive library of nearly 50 rare and vintage cocktail books, including a first- edition of the oldest cocktail recipe book ever written, the Bar-Tender's Guide by Jeremiah (Jerry) P. Thomas, which sells for around $8,000 in today's market. The full library can be accessed digitally on the iPads available on the bar counter.

Toasting the contemporary "Golden Age of Cocktails," The Traveller Bar offers a menu of eight classic cocktails traditionally handcrafted by expert mixologists using premier products. It will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm, and Fridays 7-10pm through Feb. 27.

To follow The Traveller Bar on social media, check out #LHTravellerBar or visit the website www.thetravellerbar.com. For more information or to arrange your stay, call 1-800-23-LOEWS or visit www.loewshotels.com

National World War II Museum completes new entryway as $370M expansion continues

The National World War II Museum has completed a new Founders Plaza, an entryway that is part of the museum's $370 million expansion project.
The museum's $370 million expansion include the "Hall of Democracy." Rendering courtesy National World War II Museum.
The plaza spans Andrew Higgins Drive between Camp and Magazine Streets. It will be dedicated Thursday, as the new name of the museum's American Spirit Bridge is unveiled: the Horatio Alger Association American Spirit Bridge.
The museum is also improving shared exterior spaces between the new elements, with oak trees lining Founders Plaza and historic-style street lights. An 80-foot American flag and six service flags of the U.S. armed forces are featured in the Plaza, along with sections of Hitler's Atlantic wall and German sentry bomb shelters. In addition to a new wall featuring museum donors, legacy bricks and paving stones are also scattered throughout the entryway to recognize museum donors and honorees.
Benches that honor the war's notable figures are also in place, along with a panel that pays tribute to the story of the museum's establishment by founder Stephen E. Ambrose and founding president Gordon H. "Nick" Mueller.
Following the dedication ceremony, Andrew Higgins Drive will remain a drivable thoroughfare. The street will be lined with stainless steel retractable bollards in addition to fixed bollards to allow traffic flow during special events. The street's drainage system was replaced with a new collection system, using a subsurface retention system that will return a percentage of captured water into the ground.

Directed by Stephanie McKee and developed by dancers Kesha McKey, Kai Knight, Jeremy Guyton, poet Sunni Patterson and drummer Jawara Simon, Gomela takes us on a journey through time and space. Gomela is an experience of collective memories passed down from generation to generation, a tapestry woven by a group of multi-disciplinary artists who represent the diversity of African Americans who call New Orleans home.

Lighting designer Evan Spigelman, sound designer Muthi Reed, projection designer Jason Foster, costume designer Ja'nese of Aya Designs, recorded music by trumpeter Troy Sawyer and singer Janet "Sula Spirit" Evans of Zion Trinity and additional writing by Ausettua Amor Amenkum, A Scribe Called Quess?, and Frederick "Hollywood" Delahoussaye bring life to the sights and sounds of Gomela.

IT'S  KING CAKE  SEASON,  BABY!

For eight years in a row, Bourbon House has been serving up its King Cake Bevvy - a favorite frozen concoction that tastes remarkably like the real deal. The bevvy is only one of the ways that Dickie Brennan & Co. pays homage to the rich history of the king cake. Every December, our pastry chefs brainstorm fun and creative variations of king cakes that maintain the flavors that we all conjure when we think of the season. Check out what our pastry chefs created this year!

Visit the restaurants from now until Lundi Gras to get one of these sweet treats. (We're keeping our tradition of closing on Mardi Gras Day, so our staff can enjoy the festivities!)

BROADWAY MUSICAL ABOUT NEW ORLEANS' JAZZ MUSICIAN, JELLY ROLL MORTON, MAKES
ITS REGIONAL PREMIERE AT LE PETIT
Actor and Choreographer Ted Louis Levy, part of the original Broadway production, makes Le
Petit debut in title role.
New Orleans, LA (JANUARY 17, 2017) -
Director Jackie Alexander (The High Prieste ss of Dark Alley) returns to Le Petit this winter to
tackle the explosive musical , Jelly's Last Jam, celebrating the controversial and iconic figure that
is New Orleans' jazz musician, Jelly Roll Morton.
Born Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe in New Orleans' Faubourg Marigny, Jelly Roll Morton rose to
fame as a musician and arranger in the early part of the twentieth century, and soon
proclaimed himself "the inventor of jazz." Led by the charismatic and mysterious Chimney Man
and his trio of heavenly songbirds, The Hunnies, the audience takes a journey with Jelly Roll
through the pivotal moments of his life.
On d irecting Jelly's Last Jam at Le Petit, Alexand er says, " Jelly's Last Jam is New Orleans! The
music, dance, characters, and energy of the show were birthed from the city's history, so as Le
Petit celebrates its 100th anniversary, I can't think of a more appropriate show to bring to the
stage."
Le Petit Theatre welcomes acclaimed tap choreographer and actor Ted Louis Levy to the role of
Jelly Roll Morton. Levy received Drama Desk and Tony nominations, and received an Outer
Critics Circle award, for his tap choreography on the original Broadway production of Jelly's Last
Jam. Levy's tap choreography will be revitalized on the Le Petit stage, as many of his original
tap routines from the Broadway production are revisited.
New Orleans' Equity actors, Idella Johnson (Anita) and Robert Diago DoQui (Jack the Bear) join
the cast in leading roles. They are joined by L.G. White II (Young Jelly), Damien Moses (The
Chimney Man), Mikhala Iversen (Gran Mimi), Tomeka Williams (Mamie) and Kebron Woodfin
(Buddy Bolden). Shangobunmi Durotimi Mcalpine, Jarrell Hamilton, and Traci Tolmaire are the
trio of heavenly Hunnies. The cast is rounded out by a dynamic ensemble that includes Owen H.
Dunne, Alysha Jean Charles, Ebony Johnson, Lloyd Meekins, and Tyler Price.
The production will feature a band composed of New Orleans' finest jazz musicians led by
Music Director and Pianist, Tom Hook. The band, who will be featured on-stage, features John
Jones on drums, Brandon Brunious on banjo, Khari Allen Lee on reeds, Edward Anderson on
trumpet, David Pulphus on bass, and Michael Watson on trombone.
Jelly's Last Jam was written by George C. Wolfe, and features lyrics by Susan Birkenhead and
music by Jelly Roll Morton and Luther Henderson.
The creative team includes Jackie Alexander (director), Traci Tolmaire (choreographer), Bill
Walker (set design), Julie Winn (costume design), Andrew Griffin (lighting design) and Theo
Fogelman (sound design).

"A LIFE OF SEDUCTION: VENICE IN THE 1700 s"
EXCLUSIVELY AT THE NEW ORLEANS MUSEUM OF ART
February 16 - May 21

The grandeur of Venice comes to America's most historic city in "A Life of Seduction: Venice in the 1700s", an exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art February 16 - May 21.   NOMA is the sole venue in the United States presenting this exhibition of objects providing a glimpse into the pageantry, ceremony and extravagance of Venetian life in the 1700s. "It is with great pleasure that NOMA brings this remarkable exhibition to our public. Venice is presented through an elegant, multi-disciplinary installation featuring an exceptional selection of objects, costumes, and paintings that illuminate an extraordinary time in the history of Venice", says Susan M. Taylor, Montine McDaniel Freeman Director at the NOMA.

"A Life of Seduction" illuminates 18th century Venetian life and pageantry during the century of Casanova, Canaletto, and Tiepolo, and countless others who spread Venetian taste and style throughout the world. Visitors to the exhibition will see objects depicting the opulence of the time, when the city was a cultural mecca. Three-hundred-year old carnival masks, costumes and  robes, shoes, handbags, and regal glass objects are displayed among exquisite paintings by Canaletto and Guardi. "A significant strength of this exhibition is its historical and cultural point of view and the distinctive range of objects that tell the story", says NOMA Curator Vanessa Schmid.

Fittingly, "A Life of Seduction" arrives in New Orleans at a time when parallels between the two cities are apparent: just before Carnival and the spring festival season.  Guest-curated by the former director of the Civic Museums of Venice, Giandomenico Romanelli, the exhibition presents four themes: A City that Lives on Water, the Celebration of Power, Aristocratic Life in Town and Country, and the City as Theater. The festivals and celebration unique to Venetian culture are depicted in detailed paintings of a city transformed at carnival. Gondola models illustrate the exquisite craftsmanship and elegance of canal life and travel.  Palace and country living are brought to life by resplendent costumes, silk waistcoats, gloves and handbags, as well as furnishings and delicate, rare Venetian glass objects, for which the city is still so well known. Theater and opera, vital elements in Venetian life and imagination, are represented through paintings, decorative arts and a full-scale puppet theater lent by the Casa Goldoni of Venice especially for this exhibition.
"It is our hope that visitors will be inspired by the focus on festivals, pageantry and ceremony that present parallels between Venice and New Orleans", says Susan M. Taylor.

The exhibition is originated by NOMA, organized by the Contemporanea Progetti, and Guest-Curated by Giandomenico Romanelli.
