Happy new year to our Gamecock families! We are looking forward to having students back to campus for the spring semester! As a reminder, the spring 2017 fee payment deadline is this Wednesday, Jan. 4 by 5 p.m. Encourage your student to look over their bill closely before paying to make sure it is correct.

Before your student returns to campus, we encourage you to sit down with them to reflect on their fall semester successes and challenges and set spring 2017 goals. Continue to become familiar with university resources that you can connect your student with to help them accomplish their goals. As always, we are here to help, so do not hesitate to contact us!

Carolina Alert
The Carolina Alert Emergency Notification System is a tool the university uses to notify the community when an emergency affects our campus. All students should sign up for Carolina Alert to receive emergency information via text message and email through Self Service Carolina. If you would also like to receive the alerts, additional spaces are available in the student's account to add a parent/family member's email address and/or cell phone number.

Spring 2017 bills
Tuition bills are now available on Self Service Carolina (SSC) for students who are registered for spring semester classes. Please be sure your student reviews their bill thoroughly and checks that all charges are present and accurate. The online and in-person payment deadline for spring 2017 is this Wednesday, Jan. 4 by 5 p.m.

Spring 2017 payment plans
Payment plans for the spring semester are available through your student's SSC account. These plans will allow your student to pay on a monthly schedule, until the balance is paid in full. An initial payment of 25% of the total balance is to be paid after all financial aid has been applied, plus a $75 administrative fee due at the time the student signs up for the payment plan. Three additional payments are due over the next three months on Feb. 10, March 10 and April 10. A late fee of $100 will be applied if payment is not made by the monthly deadline.

The payment plan covers tuition, housing, meal plans, technology and program fees. Any charges that are not captured in the payment plan such as parking citations, health service charges and student conduct charges must be paid manually through your student's SSC account

If a student was enrolled in a payment plan for fall 2016, they would need to re-enroll for spring 2017 if they plan to take advantage of this option. Payment plans do not roll over from semester to
semester.

Refunds and direct deposit
Students are strongly encouraged to set up direct deposit via their SSC account in order to receive refunds most efficiently. When refunds are processed, they will reach the bank within an estimated 3-5 business days. Otherwise, refunds will be mailed via paper check to the address listed as current on the student record.
