Dear Schofield Families,

Each month we will be emailing a monthly newsletter with important dates and information. In addition to the newsletter, we will use Facebook to communicate with our families. Be sure to "Like" our page and check it often for reminders and student learning highlights. Our website is also a great source for information. Be sure to check it out at republicschools.org.

School Performance and School Improvement Plan

Academic Goals
Educators and students are working to reach the
following academic goals:  More than 80% of students will be proficient with literacy, writing and numeracy standards. An update on academic goals will be provided in November.

Attendance and Discipline
Congratulations to the lifelong learners and leaders of Schofield Elementary! They met the attendance and discipline goals for the month of September. Students had above 96% attendance for the month and less than 25 discipline referrals. Students celebrated with root beer floats and a sock hop on the 50th day of school!

Schofield Super Moms

The Leader In Me

Students shared how they are using Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind at school with their families this month. Students are using Habit 2 by setting learning goals at school. Next month, be sure to look for a special Tiger Paw for Habit 3. All 7 Habits are listed below.

Habit 1: Be Proactive (You're in Charge)
Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
              (Listen Before You Talk)
Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)

We appreciate your support in October with Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind! We hope you love hearing about your student's learning goals as much as we love celebrating when he or she reaches them!

Schofield's Counseling Program

On October 11th, students at Schofield Elementary attended Careers on Wheels. Thanks to our amazing community volunteers, students were able to learn more about careers as they visited different stations that each featured a vehicle as part of a career. Students visited a fire truck, an ambulance, police car, propane truck, farm equipment and much more!  Be sure to ask your student about this wonderful experience!

In addition to the Careers on Wheels event, Ms. Pietruszynski visited classes to discuss the following topic:
  • Conflict resolution and how to respectfully work through problems with one another
Mrs. Fenske visited students in third through fifth grades to discuss the following topic:
  • Interacting with others in ways that respect individual and group differences and understanding self as an individual and as a member of diverse local and global communities.
Ms. Fenske and Ms. Pietruszynski are also meeting with small groups of students. These groups were created and organized, based on information provided by families at the beginning of the year. As always, please feel free to contact Ms. Fenske or Ms. Pietruszynski with any questions or concerns regarding your child at the following email addresses:

Preparing each student for a successful future is our mission, and the information gathered through this survey provides us a measure to see how well we are achieving this goal.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open October 23-November 3.  Thank you in advance!
