MARYLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA RENEWS MUSIC DIRECTOR ELIZABETH SCHULZE'S CONTRACT THROUGH 2019-2020 SEASON

The Board of Directors of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra has announced the renewal of Music Director Elizabeth Schulze's contract through the 2019-2020 Season.
"The accomplishments that Elizabeth has already achieved have resulted in an extraordinary improvement in the artistic quality of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra," stated Brendan Fitzsimmons, president of the MSO's Board of Directors in making the announcement. "However, the Board feels that her work is not yet done here and is thrilled that she has agreed to continue that work with us over the next four seasons. On a personal note, I am very excited to be able to continue to work with Elizabeth as the organization continues to grow and find new ways to serve our community."
Schulze began her tenure with the MSO during the 1999-2000 Season after a nationwide search was conducted for a music director to replace Barry Tuckwell.

King in 1989, when he was only 12 years old. Today, he is hailed worldwide as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation, and is an ever-evolving singer-songwriter who has released 17 solo albums in the last 15 years, all on his own label, J&R Adventures.  He founded and oversees the non-profit Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation to promote the heritage of the blues to the next generation, fund music scholarships, and supplement the loss of music education in public schools. In 2013, Bonamassa earned his first GRAMMY ® nomination for Best Blues Album and in 2015 his fourteenth #1 Billboard Blues Album (more than any other artist) with the release of Muddy Wolf At Red Rocks. 2014's new studio album Different Shades Of Bluedebuted at #8 on Billboard's Top 200 and was his highest charting album, first top 10, and biggest sales week ever.
