CDN Update    
 
This month I'm pleased to confirm that a key project for the sector is now underway. CDN is working with partners and stakeholders to review and refresh the Professional Standards for Lecturers in Scotland's Colleges. The modernisation of the Standards will embed the rapid changes seen across the learning and teaching landscape in recent years. It will also address advances made in technology, and consider what that means for today's practitioners and learners.

The count-down is on to this year's CDN College Awards ceremony, which takes place on Thursday 23 November at the Hilton Glasgow. The event honours the excellent practice taking place across the sector every day. I am delighted that John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills will be joining us, and that Sally Magnusson will once again act as our MC for the evening. College Professional Standards to be refres hed Professionalstandards 
College Development Network (CDN) is working with partners and stakeholders to review the existing Professional Standards for Lecturers in Scotland's Colleges, and to deliver a modernised set of workforce development standards for the national college sector next year.

Less than a month to go before the CDN College Awards, which takes place on Thursday 23 November at Hilton Glasgow. We are delighted to be welcoming John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills as our keynote speaker and Sally Magnusson, award winning journalist and broadcaster, as our MC for the evening. Summaries of all the shortlisted submissions are available on the CDN website.  
College participation at business leaders event  
Business leaders are meeting in Edinburgh tomorrow to discuss the Art and Practice of Management at the CMI Scotland 2017 conference. It will include a presentation from Margaret Cook, Principal and CEO of Perth College UHI, who provides insight to 'taking everything you have ever learned or experienced with you'. Managers from across Scotland's colleges who have participated in CDN's management and leadership development programme will be attending, offering them an excellent opportunity to network with leaders from private and public sector and develop their own leadership journey.

CDN is working with Priority Management to provide a special opportunity for colleges to benefit from the Working Sm@rtâ„¢ programme, which offers a method of increasing productivity and improving staff wellbeing through effective working and workload management.  
The first open course at CDN in Stirling will be held on Thursday 1 February 2018 with registrations closing on Thursday 11 January 2018.
PDA Advancing E quality and Diversity
CDN is offering a unique opportunity for college staff to undertake the PDA Advancing Equality and Diversity through Inclusiveness - SCFQ Level 9. This qualification is aimed at anyone working in a teaching and learning environment. It is flexible, offering options and is delivered online through CDN LearnOnline, with support from the course tutor.
