Walnut Grove Roadrunner Newsletter August 27, 2017
Dear Walnut Grove Families,

We are off to a brilliant start to the year! Students are enjoying school and being responsible, respectful and ready to learn!  If you did not get an opportunity to watch my Welcome Video at Back to School Night and would like to, please click here to access it.

My first Coffee with the Principal will be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 9:20 to 9:50am in Room 411.  Room 411 is Ms. Perazzo's old classroom.

And lastly, please click here for important information  about the new Day Care Van Drop Off/Pick Up Procedure.

Thank you,
Chris Connor

Fun Run Room Rep Meeting

Calling all Fun Run Room Reps!

Time to lace up your shoes and get ready to run. The first Fun Run Room Rep parent meeting will take place right after school on Wednesday, September 6th in the Walnut Grove library. This is an important meeting for an overview of all the fun the PTA has planned for this favorite day on the WG campus.

Each class at WG needs (at least) one parent as its designated representative for this fun event. If you're already signed up in this role for your Roadrunner's class, great! If you aren't yet but  would like to take on this responsibility, please get in touch with Allison Bowling or Kym Peck

Also, a reminder to you as Fun Run Room Reps, you must complete this  volunteer clearance form if you haven't already done so.  Please submit it asap to avoid any delays in being able to help out on September 29th.

Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

Fall Picture Day

Walnut Grove's Fall Picture Day is coming soon!

This year, picture day will take place on Wednesday, September 13th. All students will have their pictures taken on this day, both individually and with their class.

You will have the opportunity to pay for pictures in advance online, or you can send money with your child on picture day. More information will be coming home with your child soon.

Salsa Day in the WG Garden

It is Salsa Day in the Walnut Grove Garden this Tuesday, August 29th!

We will be making a "one bite salsa" with ingredients from our garden.  Extra parents are needed to help make this go smoothly!  If you can lend a hand from 11:15 to 1:15 (or even part of that time,) it would be appreciated!

You can sign up directly through this Sign Up Genius link or  contact Kim McCoy  or Candee Banman  for more information.

Walnut Grove Magnets

Walnut Grove School Magnets are here!

They will be distributed to each student through their teacher this week! They are courtesy of the Walnut Grove PTA, to facilitate communications between the school and families!

Reflections Art Program

The Reflections Art Recognition Program for the 2017-18 School Year  theme is  "Within Reach".

The Reflections Arts Recognition Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program for students that provides an excellent opportunity for students of all ages (Preschool to Grades 12) to unleash their creative talents and be inspired, express themselves imaginatively in their artwork and receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

Deadline to turn in entries will be sometime in October. Our reflection showcase will be scheduled in late October or early November.

For additional information on the program and how to submit entries, please visit the Walnut Grove PTA website.  If you have any questions, please contact Amy Paden .

Walnut Grove 50th Anniversary Celebration

This year marks Walnut Grove's 50th Anniversary. We are still taking suggestions until the end of August on how we as a school and community can celebrate this milestone:    WG 50th Birthday Suggestion Form.

If you plan on working in your child's classroom or at the Fun Run on September 29th, you cannot do so until you have been cleared through the District.  Fill out this volunteer clearance form now to avoid any delays in being able to volunteer.  So  if you haven't already submitted the online form, now is the time!
