5 tips to advance in the ASDA Bracket Challenge. The further your chapter advances in the ASDA Bracket Challenge, the closer you'll be to more than $2,000 in incentives. Here are some helpful hints so your chapter doesn't drop the ball:
  1. Start recruiting now - The predentals you recruit ahead of the tournament will be applied to your first-round score.
  2. When holding a predental event (workshop, predental day, etc.), build the cost of membership ($63) into the cost of registration.
  3. Renewals count! Contact ASDA for a list of unpaid predental members in your state.
  4. Hold multiple events (school tours, workshops, etc.). The first round ends on March 19, 2017, so you have plenty of time.
  5. Reach out to your undergraduate university. You are not limited to recruiting predentals near your dental school.

LEADER SPOTLIGHT

Hakan Gem, Washington '18, first delegate
Hometown: Seattle, Washington

Why do you want to be a dentist? I grew up immersed in the field of dentistry and strove to follow in the footsteps of my biggest inspiration: my mother, Dr. Tulay Kent. Sadly, she passed away during my first year in dental school from metastatic cancer. But even in death, she has further inspired me to pursue a career in oral health research with a focus on oral cancer through the DDS/PhD program offered at UW School of Dentistry.
