TOPIC:
There are some things we can safely say will get worse before they get better. For Law Enforcement Professionals, this list includes things like political protests, media coverage of negative portrayals of police officers, smaller operating budgets, inadequate training and a lack of respect from some of the people we serve.
Today's law enforcement officer is under more STRESS than ever before...On and Off the Job. From shift work and long hours to a critical incident...From the home-front to the battle lines on the street, Law Enforcement Officers are thrust into situations by duty and not by personal choice, under complicated circumstances not of their creation. This class was designed to encourage law enforcement personnel to reboot / reset and begin to take care of themselves and each other and to bridge the divide with the communities they serve. We must focus less on those who wants to tear us down and begin to focus on our own wellness, safety and resiliency.
Let us go back to basics and review where we came from, where we are and begin to build up morale in the hearts and minds of the men and women who protect and serve. Officers must be inoculated with reality-based education on how to deal with stress, trauma, and the negative parts of the job beginning at the academy and continuing throughout the officer's career. We must provide the proper up-to-date reality-based training, tools, and skills needed to survive a career in law enforcement.
