Updated: CPRA Releases 2017 Master Plan and Annual Plan; Public Meetings Scheduled
Baton Rouge, La-- The DRAFT 2017 Coastal Master Plan and DRAFT FY 2018 Annual Plan are now available online for public review and comment.  Public meetings will be held this week and next to detail the plan and accept public comment.

The DRAFT 2017 Coastal Master Plan sets an ambitious path to respond to the loss of our coastal land and the threats from storm surge events. The master plan is a list of projects that build or maintain land and reduce risk to our communities. The 2017 Coastal Master Plan was built on the commitment and knowledge gained from the previous master plans. Using the best available science and engineering, CPRA prioritized and sequenced projects for implementation.

The DRAFT FY 2018 Annual Plan presents CPRA's three-year funding outlook and allocation plan to support the implementation of Master Plan projects during FY 2018 - FY 2020.

CPRA will host four formal public hearings to provide coastal Louisiana residents and stakeholders an opportunity to review and comment on the DRAFT 2017 Coastal Master Plan as well as the DRAFT FY 2018 Annual Plan.

Flood Risk and Resiliency Viewer Updated
Residents can better access the information about protection and restoration projects that benefit their families and communities.

The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is releasing an update to the Master Plan Data Viewer, an online tool that lets residents learn more about their current and future flood risk.  ROR was a proud partner with the CPRA to help develop and first debut the viewer to our coastal communities two years ago.
This is an example of what the viewer looks like--
click for a direct link to view!

The viewer is an interactive tool that allows people to go online, type in a location-- like your home or business address-- and learn more about current and future land change, flood depths, economic damage, coastal vegetation, social vulnerability, 2017 Master Plan Projects, and resources to reduce risk for that particular area.  Users can explore how the whole coast may change under different environmental scenarios and at different points in time over the next 50 years.

Also, just in time for the 2017 Coastal Master Plan's draft release, users can obtain more information about draft master plan projects such as descriptions, cost, implementation period, and if the project becomes funded and moves into different stages of planning, design, and construction.
