POPE JOHN PAUL II REGIONAL CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
School Receives Technology Grant
The school was recently granted a technology package by the Connelly Foundation. The package includes 30 Dell Chromebooks with Google EDU Management Console Licenses as well as a cart for storage and charging. The technology package is valued in excess of $10,000. PJP II was selected to receive this grant for its demonstrated commitment to using GAFE(Google Accounts for Education)/G Suite and building a 1:1 environment for its students. Many thanks to the Connelly Foundation for this technology grant and their continued support of PJP II School's initiatives.
In addition to the grant, the school purchased 30 additional Chromebooks in order to launch the program with its sixth grade. If the school meets its fundraising goals for the remainder of the year, the program will be rolled out to the seventh and eighth grade students beginning with the 2017-18 school year. Classroom teachers recently went through an intensive professional development course so they can utilize the new devices to their fullest potential.
Students Selected for  Archdiocesan Chorus
Students who auditioned and were selected for the Archdiocesan Honor Choir are eighth graders Marie W., Sarah C., Madison B., and Lexi G. Over 150 students from the Philadelphia Archdiocese competed for 100 spots. The girls will perform at Archbishop Ryan High School in March.
Students selected for the Archdiocesan Festival Chorus are sixth graders Keira S., Claire F., and Natalie S. The girls will also perform at Archbishop Ryan High School in March.

School Celebrates 10 Years
PJP II School opened its doors in January of 2007 under the guidance and leadership of Sister Helen Loretta, IHM. In 2009,  the school welcomed Sister Anne McGuire, IHM who carried on the school's traditions of academic excellence. The school has accomplished a lot, adding a PreK, Fine Arts, Music, and World Language program, completing the top floor of the school, staying ahead of the technology curve with the latest learning devices and upgrades to its infrastructure, all while providing students the daily opportunity to grow in their faith. Through the commitment and dedication of hundreds of faculty and staff members over the past decade, over 700 students have graduated from the school. Congratulations PJP II School on your 10th anniversary!

Alumni Corner
John Byler, PJP II Class of 2014, became an Eagle Scout(Troop 116) on November 15th. For his project, John restored the music stands and marching band percussion instruments for Bishop Shanahan High School. The project was broken down into four phases: the painting of the music stands (50+), the disassembly of the drums (14 instruments, totaling 26 pieces) and polishing of the chrome, the painting of the drums, and the reassembly of the drums and tuning of the instruments.  With the assistance of fellow band and family members, TCHS volunteers and the guidance of  Chuck Keating, project coach and BSHS Band Director,  the project was successfully completed over a five month period. John's work will greatly extend the life of the instruments for several years.
Currently a Junior at BSHS, John plays the drum in the school's  Pep Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra Pit and Marching Band where
he is the Drum Line Captain. John is also a member of the All Catholic Band and Orchestra and had the privilege to play for Pope Francis upon his arrival to the Phila. Airport last year.  Congratulations to John on all his accomplishments and especially his Eagle Scout Award!
