Shane has a loving and affectionate spirit. He is not verbal, but is quick to let you know his feelings through smiles and hugs.
Shane enjoys individual play and is particularly attached to his soccer ball. He likes to roll it around with his hand. He also enjoys coloring and finger painting.
When he visits the park, he goes straight to the swing set to soar back and forth. He enjoys watching SpongeBob and Alvin and the Chipmunks. He also enjoys listening to all types of music.
Shane is a happy young man who is very determined and does not give up easily. He needs a committed family with that same determination who will be able to love him unconditionally and meet all of his needs in a safe, consistent, nurturing and permanent environment.
New program helps food assistance clients get good jobs
Some long-time food assistance recipients are driving themselves right out of the program through a new partnership between Hamilton County Job and Family Services, the state of Ohio and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service.
This partnership, the first of its kind in Ohio, is just one example of the innovative things we do at our agency to help families and children. I would love to start out 2017 by highlighting some of our successes.
Our partnership has led to 11 food assistance recipients completing truck driving school, with four already employed in jobs paying more than $45,000 a year. Each person who completes this program is someone who will be able to provide not only food for their family, but the extras that will improve their quality of life.
Stronger families mean stronger communities and that is something we want in Hamilton County.
We so appreciate our partnership with Sibcy Cline and public relations pro Julie Phillippi Whitney - and they're at it again for us with a drive to collect new shoes for kids in foster care.

Sweet Soles for Love seeks new shoes, from infant to men's size 12. Donors can drop off shoes at any Sibcy Cline location through Feb. 14.
Closed-toe shoes only and no high heels or flip flops, please.
This is the third major donation drive Sibcy and Phillippi Whitney have spearheaded for us. The first generated thousands of suitcases, the second thousands of hats, scarves and pairs of gloves.

For the second year in a row, Hamilton County was fortunate to make it on the list of
The Bike Lady, who bought Christmas bikes for 1,700 Ohio kids in foster care.
We're still distributing the last of the more than 200 bikes HCJFS received the second week of December. Even some employees who don't work in Children's Services jumped in to play Santa for a day and delivered some bikes to kids in foster homes.
Kate Koch, aka The Bike Lady, truly believes a bike can change a child's life. She turned an impromptu holiday bike drive in 2008 for one county into a charity that has distributed more than 8.000 bikes to Ohio kids in the past eight years.
