Sunday Radio Matinee: Sheriff Candidates Debate
Candidates vying for the upcoming special election for Oklahoma County Sheriff met in a debate named the "Tussle at the Tower" last night. Candidates P.D. Taylor, Mike Hanson and Ed Grimes discussed law enforcement and other issues at the Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City. NonDoc editor Tres Savage moderated the debate and KGOU's own Claire Donnelly was a panelist asking questions. The debate will be broadcast as our Sunday Radio Matinee this Sunday, Aug. 27 at 12 p.m.

Special Programs for Labor Day Weekend

Studs Terkel
KGOU has a labor-themed Sunday Radio Matinee on tap for the Labor Day weekend: interviews conducted in the 1970s of working people talking about their jobs with author Studs Terkel. His ensuing book became a bestseller and inspired a Broadway musical. The Working Tapes of Studs Terkel airs at 12 noon on Sept. 3.

After you've contemplated the working life, it's time to kick back, relax and listen to the great music from this summer's Jazz in June festival. Highlights will be broadcast from 1 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. More details for both special programs are here:
