LHS Orchestra
The TMEA All State Orchestra Competition happens in three rounds. Students must make the All Region Orchestra, then they submit recordings to be judged in two rounds. The first round eliminates half of the competitors, and then during the second/final round roughly 20% are selected for All State Orchestra.
We had three students compete - Anthony Tang, Andrew Chang and Daniel Xue.
All three students qualified for the final round of judging, and Anthony Tang was selected as a member of the All State Orchestra.

We are so proud of these young people. They have worked hard to get to this point, and the rewards from here forward are limitless.
The NSDA vision is that every child in the United States will be empowered to become an effective communicator, ethical individual, critical thinker, and leader in a democratic society. NSDA was created in 1925 and their mission has evolved in those years, but the mission is to connect, support and inspire individuals and schools who are devoted to giving middle school, high school and collegiate student's access to speech and debate. NSDA helps to give youth a voice. The greatest value of membership is the encouragement and incentive it gives to young people to become an effective speaker and hence a more successful and more influential citizen. NSDA trains students for leadership roles.
In order to qualify for initial membership, students have to earn 25 points by competing in speech/debate tournaments. Students earn points at every speech and debate competition in which they compete. Points measure student progress, motivating continued participation. The more students participate, the more their point totals will increase, and the level of achievement will increase qualifying students for advanced degrees in membership.
Since 1925, NSDA has celebrated the achievements of more than 1.5 million alumni. When a student earns their membership in NSDA they join many leaders in business, government, law, education and many other professions who are also members of NSDA.
